Owner description: For hundreds of years the Danes were an unstoppable force of warriors, explorers and settlers – uniting Scandinavia, discovering America and bringing terror to the shores of Europe. Today Copenhagen’s history of fire and bloody battles lies hidden behind picturesque streets and colorful harbors. As the days of conquest passed, Danish power was replaced with a rich cultural legacy of writers, artists and philosophers. The fairytale feel of the city where Hans Christian Andersen wrote is the home of incredible stories and unbelievably true histories: Viking adventurers; pirate-hunting Bishop Absalon; daring Danish WWII resistance fighters and more. Our local expert guides will take you on a 3 hour walking tour through 6000 years of Copenhagen’s history and you’ll find out why the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world!

“Thoroughly enjoyed Andy's Tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

We joined friends for Sandeman's Copenhagen walking tour last week on our cruise stop in Copenhagen. Despite a very crowded city, we were able to meet up at the City Hall where were checked in and met Andy, our guide for the three hour walk. The group was larger than expected and we wondered how Andy would keep track of such a large group and if we would be able to hear what he had to say. No problem ( although we do feel that the group size should be limited to 20 or less). Andy is a historian, extremely knowledgeable and very funny. Lots of interesting stories and anecdotes among the factual info that he shared. The 3 hours went by quickly and we ( in our 70s) were able to keep up. Definitely work a good Tip, which we happily provided. Only suggestion is to have just a bathroom and drink break rather than a food break. We would have rather had more touring time and eat on our own at the end. Definitely recommend to all looking for a walking tour.

“Walking in the rain with Alan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

The walking tour is a great way to see the main attractions in Copenhagen and to get acclimated to the town. Our guide, Alan, a transplant from Arizona via Paris, France, was engaging, funny and knew his history. For the second part of the tour, the skies opened up with rain but most of the group preservered and stuck with Alan to complete the tour because he was very good. There's no fee but at the end you tip Alan with whatever you think he deserved.

“Great tour, great guide: thank you, Andy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

If you want to have a first idea of the town, take the Sandeman tour: they guide you walking and talking, and telling you not only about history, but curiosity and they will impress you more than a normal touristic tour! Be ready to walk a lot! You pay what you want, it's a tip! Havenfun! Andy, our British guide, was nice, funny and well prepared!

“Not enough walking”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

We've done walking tours in many cities and most are excellent. We've learned that if we dont enjoy the first 30 to 40 minutes its not going to get any better so in all honesty we left. I like a walking tour that actually walks, not walking a few minutes and stopping for twenty minutes. That doesnt mean others wouldnt enjoy the tour, it just wasnt for us.
