“Nice hotel to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Scandic is centrally located with easy access to Indian restuarants, the S station (train), city center. The rooms are clean and the view from the hotel is very good. The swings in the lobby is good and nice place for kids to play around.Nice relaxing lobby. The breakfast is also good.

Stayed for 3 night in feb2013. Beautiful lakeside location, near tivoli and central station ( approximately 10 min walk)... Its around 10 miles from the airport. Staff are generally friendly and the rooms are of reasonably good standard ( my room was a standard double with two single beds, a business desk and a chaise lounge).

The shopping area is only 15 minutes walking as is the main town square.
A 24 hour tuck shop in reception is a nice touch ( selection of chocolates, drinks and oddments).

The downsides:
Bar is ridiculously expensive.
The room wasnt cleaned after first night.
The shower area smelt ( not enough ventilation?)

No minibar in room or ice machines in corridor

Some might not like the fact that there is a strip club just opposite and you are just a stone's throw away from the red light district. Having said that i didnt see any signs of trouble or drunken revelry so often seen in british cities.

Room Tip: Ask for "junior suite" .. They werent that much more expensive than standard/ business dou...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on Tripadvisor.

We are constantly working on improvements and feedback from our guests is essential in doing so.

As you probably noticed during your visit to Copenhagen, the price level of food & beverage is generally a bit high compared to other European cities. This is common throughout Scandinavia. The main reason is the tax level and high minimum wages.

I am terribly sorry to hear that your room was not cleaned after your first night. Our Housekeeping is highly efficient and systematic, and this is definitely not a common problem.
I hope that you contacted reception immediately and that the mistake was corrected swiftly.

We have recently undergone an extensive renovation. We are currently in the process of correcting flaws that have been brought to our attention since the renovation was completed in June 2012. We are doing this floor by floor. I will make sure the technicians investigate possible issues regarding ventilation.

As part of Scandic’s environmental awareness strategy, it has been decided to gradually remove minibars from all Scandic hotels. Guests are encouraged to use our 24h lobby shop, vending machine or other f&b out-lets instead. This may not be quite as convenient as having a minibar in every room, but it will reduce our carbon footprint significantly.
We do have ice machines on every other floor (even floors).

You are right, our location is not far from what can be considered as Copenhagen’s red light district. However, as you also point out, the area is quite peaceful and very safe compared to similar districts throughout Europe.

I hope you enjoyed your stay with us and that you had a wonderful time in Copenhagen.

Once again, thank you for your comments. I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you to Scandic Copenhagen next time you are in town.

Best regards,

Nicolai Kristensen

Recently refurbished, nice design, kids loved the play area in the lobby, excellent and friendly staff gave good support, great location and parking garage below the hotel. Thin breakfast coffee, not enough hooks for towels in the bathroom and really no place for clothes and coats at the same time, no place for vanity case in the bathroom, cleaning could be better (dusty under the bed), expensive parking in the area and the garage (not controlled by the hotel).

Room Tip: Rooms to the front are lighter and have a view to the lake.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel. Your feedback and kind words about our staff is greatly appreciated.

I am sorry you found our breakfast coffee too weak. I will ask the breakfast staff to check the settings. If you still find it too weak next time you stay with us, ask the staff to bring you a cup from the kitchen. We always have a pot of potent staff coffee there ;-)

Our rooms are designed in a clean and simple Scandinavian style. We are striving to keep a good balance between aesthetics and functionality. However, sometimes we have to make compromises in favor of one or the other. We are aware that some guests would prefer a more traditional type of closed wardrobes. Regarding your comment about the number of hooks in the bathroom, I will present this issue to our design team and discuss possible adjustments.

We take great pride in our level of cleanliness here at Scandic Copenhagen and complaints about this are very rare. I am very sad to hear that the cleaning of your room was not up to standard. I have forwarded your comment to our Housekeeping Manager.

You are right, parking in the city centre is quite expensive. Copenhagen is an old city and most of it was built long before the introduction of automobiles. Space for parking is unfortunately a rare and expensive commodity. We recommend our guests to use the Q-Park garage next to our hotel. The cost is 190 DKK/24h. Guests have direct access to the hotel from level 2.

Once again, thank you for your comments. I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you to Scandic Copenhagen next time you are in town.

Best regards,

Nicolai Kristensen

Conveniently situated next to the lakes. 10 minute walk to Tivoli area, Strøget, museums.
Good breakfast and plenty of choice including many organic options.
We were a party of 2 adults and 1 child in a std room. The room was rather squashed when the sofa bed was put out.Very comfortable beds and clean rooms.Only issue we found was lack of storage space to put clothes etc this is why 4 * overall.Felt like we were living out of suitcases for 5 days.
Staff were all very pleasant and helpful down to booking dinner tables and tickets for shows for us.
The gym was small, but enough equipment for most needs. Also you can go jogging for a few miles around the lakes right outside the door.

I attended a conference at this hotel and stayed.
I had a room on the 16th floor which was comfortable, however the view was superb - I could see Sweden and "The Bridge" (for TV fans!).
The self service breakfast was adequate and conference meals were average. There is a very small gym.
The hotel is a short walk from the S-train and an easy walk from the station. Passing buses (especially No 14) go right through the central areas, if you prefer not to walk. If you intend to visit many of the museums, a Copenhagen card is worthwhile. It covers all transport in the wider area (as far as Elsinore and Roskilde) and most museums are free.
I would probably choose a smaller hotel if I wasn't attending a conference.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a higher floor and ask for a room with a view of the city.
