“Gripe at the bar!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

To be honest I jumped on trip adviser in bit of a huff, but I have looked at the other reviews and calmed down a little in an effort to stay objective. It’s a basic hotel, my room is a bit pokey but I am on business so don’t care too much. Front desk seem friendly and efficient, and the breakfast is pretty good. My gripe is with the bar staff – been in there a couple of times and lost patience on both occasions waiting to be served (I was one of two customers waiting). I have never seen such disinterested bar staff that couldn’t go slower if they tried.

I love our comfortable and well appointed junior suite room on the 6th floor. Our room faces north and has beautiful views of the city and Tivoli Gardens.

This is very much the travelers hotel and oriented towards children and families. Don't expect the lobby, gym, or cafeteria like breakfast room to be relaxing or quiet.

The Scandic Copenhagen is a great hotel located just off Central Copenhagen, and thus making it an asset for anyone wanting to be close to the heart of this marvellous city. The hotel has been recently refurbished in a minimalist style design, however, all in all, it is a very warm, exceedingly welcoming hotel to walk into, especially great for anyone wanting to start the first leg of their holiday from.

The rooms were somewhat spacious, and portrayed the same Scandinavian Clean-Feel design featured in the lobby and surrounding corridors. The room, including the bathroom was spotless and we were supplied with ample towels and liquid soap. In response to a review prior to this, we didn't encounter the no-soap problem stated in the post - in fact, the soap, both for the shower as well as hand basin were supplied though liquid soap dispensers, all of which were instantly refilled the following morning once being used.

Like other reviewers, I found the breakfast buffet to be a tad tedious to get to, having to make one's way though hoards of kids, however, having said this, it's a very minimal problem, particularly out-shined by a mouthwatering selection of fresh fruit and veggies, bread, cereals and a very classic assortment of English-Breakfast delights. There was an expansive collection of different teas and juices, as well as coffee, offered in decaf as well as regular form. As it states on the website, gluten-free bread was provided on request.

When it comes to the staff, I was pleasantly surprised at their friendliness and willingness to go out of their way to help us enjoy our trip as much as possible. All the reception staff we encountered were absolutely wonderful and very pleasant to talk to. They all articulated very good English and displayed a firm level of competence in their work.

To address the issue of the hotel being close to the red-light district, I can confirm that the hotel is close to two sex shops, both of which, however, had patrons who were quite discrete about their presence, so, as a person travelling with a family, the entire ordeal didn't bother me at all. As for the hotel being in the actual red-light, the red light district starts west of the Grand Central Station, so, physically, the Scandic Copenhagen borders, but does not fall under this district. However, having passed though the district myself, I can vouch that it's quite clean (void of syringes) and eerily classy, with stores selling garments for well over 3,500DDK.

All in all the Scandic Copenhagen is a great business-class hotel, situated in a central location and featuring amenities other hotels request an arm and a leg for. The hotel is very clean and hosts a tidy and modern design, coupled with good-sized rooms and operating friendly, informed and well-read staff.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the lake, as there are absolutely stunning views over the canals and uptown Cop...

This is a huge hotel, and the stay will be somewhat affected by this, mostly when having your breakfast! The food is fine but the breakfastroom is huge, overcrowded, with ques to the food and children running all over the place. We found eating there very stressfull!
But in almost all other regards the stay was fine.
The hotel is newly refurbished, and the interior is very nice. The reception is spectacular!
The room we had, a standard doubleroom, was a very good size and the decor was nice. We had a room in the 11 floor, and the wiew over the city was amazing, and a whole wall of windows made it easy to enjoy. The "sofa" by the windows was a nice idea! It was also nice to sit in for a read or just relax.
The bed was good. The readinglights was fine. You have free wifi access, but the password has to be changed every day, that seems a bit unnecessary.
The bathroom is fine but a bit unpractical, little place to put things ladies travels with, and little possibilities for hanging your towels to dry.
The hotel is very well located for exploring the city.
For those who come by car, the hotel has a garage in cellar, 190 DDK pr. day, that is practical, and not very expensive if you come on a weekday. In weekends Copenhagen offer free parking in streets.

This hotel is best described as a European version of something like the Hilton garden inn in the us. But and it is a big but the rooms are tiny. I tried 2 and they we equally small. The bathroom was so small that there was nowhere to put things

The place was very clean and the hotel was pretty modern on style. If you like low cost then perhaps this is for you but Unfortunatly I have an expectation of more.

Scandic Copenhagen is a large business hotel, housed in a 18-storey building. The hotel is centrally located, just 5 minutes walk from Tivoli. The hotel complex includes a large convention center and that means lots of people in the lobby / reception area. The check-in and check-out proces is very quick and efficient, furthermore Scandic has an excellent concierge service. Staff in general is friendly. I have stayed here 3 nights as a stopover on my bike ride. Concierge staff has provided a good shelter for my bike. The hotel is modern, has a cozy bar and braserie / lunch restaurant. There is also a separate restaurant for dinner. My room on the 17th floor (# 1719) had a beautiful view over Copenhagen. The room was rather simply furnished, had a good size bed and a well equipped bathroom with shower. Breakfast is served in a large restaurant, which is more a canteen. The breakfast buffet is extensive and timely replenished. I've had lunch and dinner in the hotel and the food is of good quality. The hotel offers free WIFI, as well as access to computers in the lobby area.

This hotel is in a nice location. They are completing renovations - which can be noisy and messy. Ask for one of the renovated rooms as the old rooms are horrible! We were given a magnificent room - done in modern style so were very happy and comfortable. Walking distance to the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly reonvated room
