“Will not be coming back...”
Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

After staying in more than 5 first hotels this was the only one that was not good at all. The room is very small and has no air conditioning. We tried to sleep with our window open but could sleep at all due to the noise of music and shattering in the main garden of the hotel. Besides that you hear everything from your neighbor residents. If you want to stay at a first hotel spend an extra 20-30$ a night for an other location. The location of this hotel is pretty fine and close the shopping street, tivoli park and museum. I would only recommend this hotel if you are a easy sleeper and visits Copenhagen on a budget.

We booked a bigger room than a normal one for 2 persons, that was a vise thing to do. When we came around 10 a.m. at the hotel, the room was already ready for us. A pleasant surprice. An other nice surprice was the airconditioning in our room, although it made the room too cold after a while. The breakfast was excellent, but if you go after 9 a.m, it is usually very crowded. The location af the hotel is perfect. It is close to everything. We planned to rent bikes at the hotel, but it showed that renting a bike was cheaper through a bike rental. We rented bikes at the H.C. Andersens Boulevard for only 15€/bike/day. We did`nt have a dinner at the hotel, but there is plenty of good restaurants on Ströget and in Nyhavn. One excellent thing with Copenhagen is the biking paths all over the city. But be careful, the people drive very fast. And you can bike only in one direction. Christiania is in easy biking range, also wonderful Amager swimming area. Very nice sandy beaches to go to, the subway stops nerby, too. One thing you have to do in Copenhagen is to use the boatseightseeing, the cost was about 11-12 €/hour/person. The hotel can be easily reached with train from the airport. It takes only half an hour and from the head railway station you can walk to the hotel. We will certainly come back to Copenhagen one day.

Room Tip: Choose a superior room on the fifth floor!

We decided to have a short break in Copenhagen following our wedding in Sweden. We chose First Hotel 27 based on it's location and how it looked on there website.
Being the middle of summer it was quite hot and stuffy in the hotel corridors which was offset by an ice machine available on our floor - which we put to good use to chill down a bottle of bubbly!
We chose Superior room that's one up from the standard double and it was quite a smaller and simpler than we were expecting. It's only since we have returned that looking back on their website it looks as though we were put in a standard size room which is a little disappointing. We have since contacted the hotel about this and are awaiting their reply.
The food at breakfast is great, so long as you avoid the hot breakfast stuff like the scrambled eggs and bacon. Have the excellent range of cereals and yoghurt and the cheese and meat and amazing bread and you are on to a winner. They did also even provide gluten free bread for my wife who is coeliac.
If the room was better then I would imagine the rating would be higher, and apart from that we had a nice stay.

The first room we were offered was so small that we could not get out of both sides of the bed. The room we are now in is bigger but it is still hot, and, because we are forced to leave the door open, noisy. we have now been given a fan which is helping. The hotel does not supply tea making facilities and we were charged 25 Dk for a cup of tea.this was reversed after our protest to the management. We turned on the TV and started to watch a movie only to get half way thru when the movie cut out and a request came through for payment or credit card with no warning. This happened three times so I thought I would write a review instead of watching half movies but, in fairness, the breakfast was excellent and the desk personnel work hard to resolve issues

This hotel seems very nice upon entering with a nice ambiance, lounge area, dining space/bar--feels cool. Our room and floor was outdated and dirty. The hotel corridors were dirty. The room was dirty. I stepped in something sticky on the wood floor. The room was small (not a big issue, to be expected), and hot/airless. The bathroom was small (again, not a biggie), but was not clean. There were noticeable hairs on the counter and was just grungy. The whole room felt grungy. It seemed to have recently been redecorated with modern furniture, but it was already showing a lot of wear and the fact that the room was dirty and the walls were all marked, it was like lipstick on a pig; a poor attempt at redecorating to seem "new" and "boutique," when really it was just cramped and dirty feeling. Good location--close to Tivoli Gardens and you can get everywhere easily on bike, but would not stay again.

My mom and I stayed in Hotel 27 a couple years ago and had top notch service. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was incredible, and there was coffee/tea/cake in the afternoon as well as dinner served every night.

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in early July and were NOT met with this service. The staff was very rude and hardly listened to our requests. The room was HOT (they do not have A/C) and very loud in the morning. The breakfast was VERY crowded, though very good. Given the ideal location in the heart of the city, I had recommended to many friends visiting. I will not recommend this hotel again. Very sad how the hotel has declined.

Based on other reviews, obviously there are varying expectations for room size and competitive price. Our room was not huge, but it was very adequate. The location was great. We were able to walk to everything. We found the staff to be courteous and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. There was a large selection of hot items as well as fruit, danish/breads/pastries, cheeses, yogurts, coffee, teas, juices. Getting free wifi was a nice amenity.

Room Tip: There were three couples traveling together and we all had different views. All of them were quiet...
