“Good functional hotel for a business trip”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

I have stayed at a few of the First Hotels in Copenhagen and I quite enjoyed my stay here. The location is great and right next to the famous Ice Bar - you get a discount for being a hotel guest but it's still mega expensive although a lot of fun.

Check in is friendly and efficient and I got a room on one of the top floors. The room was small but functional, comfy bed, fold down desk for working, free wifi and a great shower. There is no safe as there is in the Kong Frederick and Skt Petri (for my laptop) and there is no room service which is where it lets itself down slightly and if you are facing the town hall the noise from the clock tower will keep you awake until midnight. Colleagues had rooms on the opposite side of the hotel and had a quiet night so go for that.

The hotel bar is one of the nicest, very comfortable and has a great outdoor area for the summer months. Breakfast is pleasant enough but not on a par with the skt petri and a decent coffee (latte etc) costs extra and has to be made by one of the staff which takes a while at busy times. Didn't dine in at night so can't comment on evening meals.

No leisure facilities exist i'm afraid but for a short weekend stay (it's in a great location near Tivoli gardens) or a business trip I would go back.

Room Tip: Avoid one facing the town square as the clock tower will keep you awake until Midnight

After a night in a cosy bed across the Oresund in Malmo, we arrived to a gigantic king sized bed. It was very hot (the middle of July) and the rooms don't have airconditioning, so even with the windows open and fan going it was incredibly hot.

A huge room and a good ensuite with big shower, the room design was really cool. Be aware if you're staying in a room that looks out onto the courtyard, that leads into the Ice Bar, and while we didn't have any problems, I'd imagine it gets quite noisy on Friday/Saturday nights.

It's just a three block walk to the Stroget and just as close to Radhusplasen and Tivoli, it is ideally located yet tucked in a pleasant side street.

There is a very cool wine room just off the main reception area with big comfy chairs, free Apple Macs and a huge bookcase, and then the Ice Bar I mentioned which, while expensive, is worth the visit.

The staff were extremely friendly, although I didn't meet too many unfriendly Scandinavians, and If returning to Copenhagen, I would return to this hotel without a moment's hesitation.

After reading a couple of reviews,i was not looking forward to my stay, our room was small but clean (ikea style) the room over looked what i think was maybe a staff entrance as there was noise from early hours. Staff were not overly friendly but efficient. There was no air con so we slept with the window open (might be a problem for the lighter sleeper). Bar area looked quite funky although it only opens at 5pm? So not as bad as i thought but definately not 4 *.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights over the last weekend of August. Our first impressions were of a well located hotel in a pretty part of the city(roughly 10 mins walk from train station) The design of the hotel is like funky IKEA - cool, smart and minimalist.

When we arrived we were met by a not so welcoming member of staff who was a young man. He seemed aloof and cold and informed us we would have to wait for our room as it was not ready yet. We were fine with it as it was only going to be a half hour but after 3/4 of an hour the room was still not ready but another more helpful member of staff phoned housekeeping who told him it was ready. So off we went with our bags up to the room to find it was not ready. Back down at reception apologetic staff upgraded us and sent us up to another room. To our disappointment this room looked as if it had just been vacated and so we had to go back down to reception a second time. Third time lucky as they say and we were given the upgraded room which had air conditioning (noisy) and was in a clean and tidy state, plus a complimentary snack tray. Generally the staff were trying to be helpful but could have done many things to have caught the situation before it became a trip adviser report as I rarely write on this site when disappointed with service as I have worked in this industry for 15 years and know the challenges and pressures but to send guests to an unprepared room two times in a row is unforgivable.
The breakfast was very tasty and well presented with lots of Danish traditional foods, there are great food and shopping options nearby and a great bar downstairs with and ice bar next to it too so it does seem as if this is more of a young and trendy hotel where maybe the above slips in service are more acceptable.
Also friends that we met that same weekend told us they had been allocated their original room and found a naked man taking a shower when they walked in

Room Tip: Get drunk in the ice bar and then sleep in the lift

There is no seating arrangement in the reception area, as the design suggests that the hotel is a 'fast-service' style hotel. Modern in look but the overall feel for a hotel has been missed out, feels and looks more like a furnished apartments reception area!

We were met with a hotel member at the reception that was rude, she did not seems to understand that people coming in might have been on an 18 hour flight. Converting euros to DK is quite hard and its not mentioned anywhere on the hotel website they the hotel doesn't accept Euros.

Room was small, bathroom was OK, noisy backrooms, choose a front room on your next trip or don't go at all. Make sure you greet the reception lady in a friendly manner and offer her a chair or something to drink.

This hotel has a good location near the train station and Tivoli. The room was small and the bathroom was small. The room was ready at noon. The staff was efficient. The breakfeast was good. I would stay here again but it is nothing special. They give you a coupon for the Ice Bar (next door) which saves you about $2.75 a person.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. My perspective is that of a tourist travelling solo.
The decoration is absolutely stunning and a sheer pleasure for anyone interested in design, including great quality books on this field. The clever use of lights in the evening produces an amazing atmosphere. It certainly makes the delight of anyone interested in Nordic design.
The room size is much larger than in other hotels at equivalent level in Copenhagen. Both room and bathroom were impeccable. The latter includes good quality towels and great toiletries with anything else you may want available by request.
My room was just by the bar which happened to be rather crowded but in spite of this was very quiet. Breakfast is lavish with excellent variety and quality. This area is as lovely as the rest and conveniently spacious. I found the tiny market at reception very useful as well. Ice-bar Copenhagen is placed in the outdoor area which was an attraction itself.Staff was very friendly and efficient. They were very willing to provide information which was accurate and plentiful.
Hotel’s location is excellent for most relevant attractions(just by the lovely Town Hall) and at about 15 minutes’ walk from train station. I would definitely return.

Room Tip: As a difference to other reviewers I had no problem whatsoever with noise, but maybe you may want to...
