I was really looking forward to my stay in this hotel after reading all the fantastic recommendations, but I have to say I wasn't blown away. I think it would probably be good to keep some perspective that it is still a 3 star hotel.

The positives were that the breakfast was free and there were a lot of choices (eggs, bacon, meats, cheese, danishes, breads, fruit, salads), that the staff was always very friendly and that it's located in a convenient location.

The negatives I experienced were that the hotel has a dated and to be honest, kind of cheap, look to it. I was in a superior single room, which was really tiny and right next to the spinning 'Hotel City' sign and neon Best Western sign outside, which meant I heard a faint buzzing all night. Luckily this was drowned out by the fan I had on, but I'm not really sure why the hotel was so hot and stuffy in October, when it definitely was not hot outside. I was also put off by the lack of safe in the room. It's my fault for not checking that this amenity was available, but I just assumed most hotels these days have safes in the room.

My friend stayed at the Admiral Hotel, less than a 5 minute walk away on the other side of Nyhavn and if I went back to Copenhagen, this is where I would stay. It just had a more modern and nicer feel to it for not much more money.

The trip to the hotel from the train station was quick, about 10 minutes by taxi. There are a few steps into the main lobby, which somone else had mentioned, so if you have a large suitcase that can be a bit daunting. The lobby is small and modern, and the guestrooms are fairly simple in decoration but very comfortable. Our room did get a bit warm but because the hotel is on a quite street we were able to open our window for fresh air. The guestroom keys are a big topic of conversation - they are quite heavy and do need to be returned to the front desk each time you leave the hotel. There is always someone at the desk so when you return from sightseeing the key is returned to you. The breakfast is nice, lots of meats, cheeses, breads and cereal to choose from. It's a 5 minute walk to the main street in Copenhagen and the local train that will take you all around town. Very convienient to use - but make sure you have either a transportation pass card or a credit card because the ticket machines do not take cash. I would recomment this hotel to anyone - nice staff, great beds, perfect location on a nice quite street with easy access to all the major sites.

We thought the location was very good with easy access to the city and other areas. The hotel was clean and quiet with a small bar which served drinks at reasonable price. This was our first visit to the city and would certainly use this hotel if we come here again.

Booked this hotel after reading reviews as it appeared to be very good value for a central location - and it was! Like to stay in a hotel with breakfast included in the price and here there was a good variety of hot and cold food. Requested a quiet room and got a room on the top floor with only a staircase on one side. As the rooms at the back face across to each other, there wasn't really a view, but this also meant that the room was away from the street and very quiet. Room was a reasonable size. There was space round the bed, two Danish style chairs and a small table, and a desk and office style chair. The lighting was reasonable due to excellent bedside lights. The bathroom was fine, except for the wetroom style shower area which was rather small. Staff were generally very helpful. Only problem for me was that the room was quite hot, so kept the window open most of the time. I would stay here again.

Sometimes you can get turned off to a chain based on just one or 2 dud experiences. You may possibly have had such an experience with this chain in the US. If this describes you, and you're looking for a place to stay in Copenhagen, I recommend Best Western Hotel City. Here's why: Fast free internet, good location, safety, a comfortable night's sleep, and a good breakfast spread. At the time I booked, there were some complaints here on Trip Advisor about night noise. Our stay was at the end of September and we slept comfortably with the windows closed and the fan on.

Two warnings: There are 4 to 5 steep stairs right at the entry door and no ramp. My 55 lb rolling bag was a real struggle coming and going. If you think you'll need help, you might want to establish that it is available when you book. Secondly, do look over the bed configuration and lock in the one that will give you the best night's sleep when you book your room.

Stayed 6/29-7/1. Room kind of small, bathroom extremely small. Bikes cost 25 kr for a day.Front desk snappy, not very helpful. Beware: price for a room with two (even if you're a couple) is different from price for room with one person. Location is great. Close to center and close to one of the Copenhagen bikeshare locations where you can get a free bicycle (one block away). The breakfast was superb. Four months later, I still dream of the croissants and pastries. What better place to have a danish (or two, or three) than in Denmark? They had complimentary newspapers in the lobby including the Financial Times, my favorite. Excellent Internet availability. I liked the room key-holders--they were very "Scandinavian", very "Viking". 3 1/2 stars.

Our recent stay at the Best Western – Hotel City was excellent. The location is perfect for a 2-3 day stay in Copenhagen as it is centrally located to all the major sites. The rooms are comfortable and the daily breakfast (included) is quite generous and diverse. The bikes, which are available for daily rental for DEK 125, make getting around the city a breeze.

What really made our stay stand out was Nete, possibly the most helpful and friendly hotel staff we have ever met. She helped us with multiple restaurant recommendations and reservations, and even went out of her way to help my husband find a bottle of Danish whiskey he tried at a restaurant earlier in the week. Her efforts included referencing the Brand’s website, texting her brother for advice and confirming with the store that it was in fact in-stock - amazing! We highly recommend the Best Western for a stay in Copenhagen.
