“Very Small Rooms”
Reviewed September 26, 2011

Only stayed on night in this hotel while in Copenhagen on business. The first room I was given was certainly the smllest hotel room I have ever been in. I have stayed n hotels with larger bathrooms.
I asked for a change and the next room was marginally bigger. This is an old building in an old city so that partly explains the size of the rooms and the manager did take the time to write to me assuring me that if I return he would arrange a larger room.
Staff were polite and check out was handled efficiently.
This is a hotel which would be acceptable as long as you are not planning to spend too much time in your room. It could become quite claustraphobic.

We arrived at the hotel by Metro which was cheap and very quick. The hotel is a comfortable 5 minute walk from Kongens Nytorv station. However when we arrived it took some time to locate our booking and when we eventually got our keys we unlocked the door and the room was already occupied. The room we were eventually allocated smelt very stale and sweaty when we entered and needed some serious windows opened! There is no air conditioning and we found it very hot at night and quite noisy with the window open. Breakfast however is first rate with massive choice although this hotel does cater for cruise liners and most of the days we were there breakfast was a bit of a scrum with very few seats available so best to get there early. The staff however are without exception first class and extremely helpfull. The location is brilliant being within short walk of Nyhavn and most other attractions. There is a really good Italian restaurant just round the corner called Tony's which we went to twice. Also Cap Horn on Nyhavn overlooking the harbour was another good restaurant within 5 minutes walk.Probably would stay there again although not sure it lived up to it's top ten rating.

The location of this hotel is good, walking distance to every where we wanted to go.
The staff, especially the blonde receptionist was very helpful and even knew which busses we should catch to travel across the city.
The breakfast was... er.... well if you avoid the bacon and eggs and go for the fruit and great taseing ham and cheeses is nice. But we thought the eggs were powdered, eugh!

The room was fine, but smelled of damp if you did not keep the window open.

So the hotel is great for it's location and staff, but the rooms need a bit more upkeep.

This hotel brands itself as a designer 'boutique' hotel but its a very average 3 star hotel. The entrance is up quite a few steps so not great if you have lots of luggage, and the front desk person who 'greeted' us could best be described as terse (we witnessed an older couple who had just arrived after a 20 hour trip from Australia and the man was completely unhelpful to their requests for food nearby once they were told there was no food at the hotel). The downstairs is a strange area with a 1970's sort of waterfall, a breakfast room and a small bar area that never seemed to be used. The room was quite small, and was pretty basic with no air con, safe, mini bar/fridge. the design features are basically the addition of some Arne Jacobsen chairs and pictures of jazz stars on the walls. The room was OK but you had to sleep with the window open as it was very hot and stuffy (would be very uncomfortable to stay in summer!) breakfast was quite nice and a good selection of hot and cold items. I think this is an old hotel that has been updated only superficially (ask for a safe deposit box and you are given a leather briefcase in a locker out of a cold war spy film) . I would look for a different hotel next time I visit Copenhagen, which I will as its a lovely City! I don't think the rating on trip advisor reflects the hotel quality, I think there would be much nicer places to stay for the money. Its a Best Western so we weren't expecting 5 start luxury, but its just OK and not much more. People have mentioned the location but Copenhagen is such a compact City this isn't a very big selling point.

I see many reviews about the rooms being small - and they are on the small side - but as Americans traveling in Europe we've grown to expect smaller rooms - so we really weren't surprised or disappointed. We were travelling in winter with XC skis and so had a lot of luggage and had no issues storing it in the room.
This hotel is fine - the room was fine (yes, somehwhat small but clean and comfortable), the location is good, and we thought the breakfast (included with the room) was really very good. Not only the food and the selection but the lobby area was lovely.
We had also read reviews about street noise but we were there in the winter so windows were closed and we had no difficulty at all with noise.
Views - well, this hotel was in the midst of a city block and so surrounded with buildings so not much of a view from the hotel window - but no complaint there. We got out and enjoyed the city.
As is true all over Scandanavia, staff spoke better English than I did it seemed and were reasonably friendly but not overly helpful - I'd call them "politely helpful" - more likley to direct you to brochures than to actually roll up their sleeves and assist. But again I am not complaining, we were quite able to figure out the city on our own and everyone we ran into was friendly and willing to help (and all spoke English).. It's cold in the winter so if visiting then we recommend the bus tour, and if I can find the name of the one we took, I'll write a review onTripAdvisor. (it was quite good)..

We booked this with airmiles - 77000 for three night s so what can you expect - Not a loft room with two single beds... however we paid +$120 extra for the three nights and were given a large room on the inside court... no view but no noise either and it was quite large as well.. we were pleased with the location as we could easily walk to nynhavn and the streets are safe...... so I would definitley recommend...
