“Fantastic meal in a cosy restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

We had a lovely dinner at Degas during a long weekend trip to Copenhagen. The restaurant has managed to create a cosy, warm (very welcome on a very cold January evening) and romantic atmosphere and prides itself on fantastic food served well. I really enjoyed the scallops and foie gras and my wife's salmon was also lovely. Our main courses of steak and fish were cooked to perfection and the presentation was fantastic, almost too good to eat. Service was attentive but friendly - all round a truly lovely evening and I would happily return.

“Wonders with mussels”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2014

Located in the former Turkish restaurant "Topkapi", Brasserie Degas has moved to this address at Gl. Kongevej not long ago and done wonders with the place.

The atmosphere is very nice in the newly refurbished dining room and the service is definitely high class, even more so for a brasserie. Our two waiters were very involved and concerned and had great recommendations for both food and wines, which we chose by the glass.

The food was splendid as well: For the first course, I was recommended the breaded mussels and morels in cocotte, and it turned out to be nothing less than brilliant. An extremely well composed dish in both serving, looks and taste. I believe, I heard similar comments from another table in the restaurant, so don't just take my word for it.

The main course couldn't really beat this: The beef tenderloin, served with a large slice of foie gras along with vegetables and truffle sauce was indeed very good, but not exactly at the same grand level. The dessert faced the same fate: A beautiful presented plate with green colors of macaroon pistachio with raspberries and a scoop of ice cream. Macaroons is a house speciality and it was a very interesting serving, but the ice cream lacked taste, most of all vanilla.

When all is taken into consideration, it was a truly great visit, especially for the amount spend.

I will definitely come back!

PS! The place was fully booked, so remember to reserve a table in advance.

“Fantastic! 5star! A+++!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

We found this restaurant due to its' high rating on Tripadvisor, and booked a table at a somewhat odd time between lunch and dinner (4.30) - we were told the kitchen usually doesnt open until 6 pm for the dinner service - but they were more than happy to accomodate us and we could chose from either the lunch menu or the dinner menu. After arriving, and being seated by wonderful staff, we got both menus and opted to go for the dinner menu. We tried one cold and one warm starter each as the meal (salmon and scallops w/ terrine of foie gras - followed by fish soup and snails). All the starters were of really decent size, so there was unfortunately no space left for dessert. After living 2 years in Copenhagen I recommend this restaurant as one of Copenhagen's very best.

“Tasty, reasonably-priced menu, with a cozy atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Our friend who is a chef in Copenhagen always tips us off to the best spots. This time, she took us to Brasserie Degas, and we were not disappointed. We went with the set menu, and I'd recommend it.
