Owner description: The National Museum of Denmark is the largest culture-historical museum in Denmark. The museum is a dynamic cultural institution offering a great variety of exhibitions and activities. Our artefacts come from all over the world and from different time periods. We can take you on a journey, traveling thousands of years through time and experience everything from the Danish national treasure the Golden Horns and the 3000 year old Egtved Girl to African masks and Egyptian mummies. In the Children's Museum, you can see and try things that show how people ate, worked, played and dressed hundreds of years ago in different environments.

“An Awesome (Free) Museum.”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

This is the second time I write about it, this museum is just amazing. In the first and the second floor you can learn a little about the Danish and the world history, and in the last floor there is always a new exhibition. The place is really well organized and you can get informations in Danish and in English. You will probably spend at least 2h inside there. The people who work there are really friendly and willing to help you if you have any doubt about the Museum, or the city in general.
If you are planing to visit Copenhagen, don't miss it. It's also close to the Town Hall, Tivoli, Andersen's statue, Glyptotek, the walking street, Nyhavn...

“Definitely To Do”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

This Museum is a great window to the history of Denmark. It seems you are walking through time with artifacts dating back into early danish history.
The Museum is on 02 floors. The 02 floor is complete with danish history and a must visit. Well spread out and easy to navigate on your own. Spend your own sweet time. You can even catch a United Nations poster dating back to 1945 in the exhibit and a piece of fallen berlin wall also.
The prize attraction these days is the temporary viking exhibit on the 01st floor. Very nice with runestones and a skeletal model of viking ship.

Definitely a must visit, Go to all floors. spend about 2-3 hrs to fully enjoy it.

“Denmark Viking Exhibit”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

This fantastic free museum offers a nice view of many artifacts reflecting Danish life over the ages. We came specifically for the Viking exhibit which offered many wonderful artifacts including the largest portion ever found of a seventy five foot long Viking ship. There were iPads near ever exhibit in English or Danish offering explanations of the items displayed. There was also an interactive game for children to learn about Vikings and various audiovisual effects to spice up the show and tell portion of the Viking exhibit. We appreciated the weaponry and jewelry. There was a very nice gift shop, an unattended cloak room and other exhibits and gardens. Certainly worth supporting.

The temporary Viking exhibit is very interesting. We did not have time to see the whole museum but you can choose sections according to your interests.

“Much more than you ever wanted to know about Denmark”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

A great warren of a place, with something for just about everyone, if you can manage to find it. Big on Vikings, of course, but also lots about the whole of Denmark's past from prehistoric times to today.
