Owner description: The National Museum of Denmark is the largest culture-historical museum in Denmark. The museum is a dynamic cultural institution offering a great variety of exhibitions and activities. Our artefacts come from all over the world and from different time periods. We can take you on a journey, traveling thousands of years through time and experience everything from the Danish national treasure the Golden Horns and the 3000 year old Egtved Girl to African masks and Egyptian mummies. In the Children's Museum, you can see and try things that show how people ate, worked, played and dressed hundreds of years ago in different environments.

We had a couple of hours to spare so thought we'd head in as its free admission. Having been to a couple of large/popular museums around Europe and this was our favorite. It has a great Egyptian exhibit and the Danish general history/way of living is pretty cool to see. The toy exhibit is also very interesting.
You can spend an hour here and see plenty or spend a whole day. Definitely worth popping in when walking past.

The museum had a nice collection of various stuff including the history of Copenhagen... Some really cool artifacts, and it's free!

Need to go back as only managed to see half of this free to enter museum. Greek exhibition alone was worth the visit. Restaurant is worth a review on its one, best chicken sandwich ever and great coffee. Staff very helpful.

I enjoyed this visit to learn some more about Danish history (early viking stuff and also 17, 18 & 19th centuries).

We go to the National Museum several times a year. The temporary exhibitions are always interesting and creative and the kids museum is fantastic. Children can learn about other cultures, play in a Viking ship, dress up, draw, sail a vessel and so on.
It's the perfect place on a rainy day. On a sunny day, don't miss the Frilandsmuseet (part of the National Museum) in Lyngby.
