Owner description: The National Museum of Denmark is the largest culture-historical museum in Denmark. The museum is a dynamic cultural institution offering a great variety of exhibitions and activities. Our artefacts come from all over the world and from different time periods. We can take you on a journey, traveling thousands of years through time and experience everything from the Danish national treasure the Golden Horns and the 3000 year old Egtved Girl to African masks and Egyptian mummies. In the Children's Museum, you can see and try things that show how people ate, worked, played and dressed hundreds of years ago in different environments.

There's no skipping the national museum if you make a city trip. It's free and you can view the national history and culture of a country in one museum visit. I loved the viking age in the National museum in Copenhagen!

Our only morning at the National Museum was well worth the visit. Entry is free, there are many exhibits to see-Danish, ancient Greek, Egyptian; My daughters really enjoyed the exhibit on doll houses where you can see both the front and glance on the inside; Very enjoyable in in all...

In my 2nd day in Copenhagen, I was very keen on learning more about Denmark and off course had lots of time to kill being a Sunday. That's when I decided to search for a local museum on Google places/maps and found this museum.

It is a very good collection of historical danish stories including the viking age. It takes you through floor by floor of historical kingdoms in Denmark, its relations and wars with neighbors - the most prominent of which was Sweden, its stance during the world wars and the overall economy and change in danish lifestyle post the wars and into today's modern age.

All exhibits have an English textual description (unlike some other north European museums), and many even have visual exhibits (like a typical living room in Copenhagen in 1960's) and actual consumer electronics like a radio or refrigerator and oven used between 70's-80's and even some dresses worn during different periods.

It is overall a must visit for anyone who wishes to know more about Denmark and the Danes.

I loved the collections on the ground floor and the Greek and Egyptian floor. They really have a lot of incredible stuff, more than I've seen in most museums. The prehistoric, Roman and viking artefacts are amazing and very well presented. There's even a huge complete rowing boat and several mummies with all of their belongings.
Entrance is free and they even have free wifi in the lobby.
