Owner description: Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

Gritty but fun. Lots of bars abd restaurants. We were there when the summer Jazz festival was on and we ate a Danish Dog, drank a beer and enjoyed the music and the people watching.

Not sure if I would eat here surrounded by hundreds of "my closest friends" but the food did look good.

Sitting on the dock of the bay, a cold Danish beer in hand, outside a home once lived in by Hans Christian Anderson, watching the boats gently puttering in and out of the harbour with the conventional view of the beautifully painted houses behind you....well, why wouldn't you? Touristy as hell, packed to the gunnels, but a place that should not be missed especially if the sun is out!

Pretty and pretty busy. A stroll through will do but do it on the quiet side of the street opposite the restaurants.

This is that area shown in all the travel books when describing Copenhagen. It is a very vibrant area with lots of places to eat/drink. People watching is the thing to do and just being caught up in the moment. Also, two of the canal tour providers have their main set up here - highly suggest you take a tour (well worth the 1 hour and price)
