Owner description: Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

Visiting Copenhagen? You visit is not complete if you haven't been to Nyhavn. Been there several times and would go again! And the experience has been cozy every time.

'Nyhavn' in Danish means 'the new harbour'. How ever, this is the old harbour which once upon a time was busy with sailors and merchants. Streets on either side of the water are lined with cozy restaurants and buildings with interesting architecture. On a summer day, this is the place where you wanna sit down and have some beer or a good gourmet lunch/dinner. During winter, the restaurants and ambience is still great, though you will very likely seek the warmth indoor.

Just a short walk from the central station youve got a market, lot of good cafes, the amber museum, an option to go by ferry all over the copenhagen harbour for a quid and lots of nearby attractions.
I took some pictures last autumn or winter on xmas market and different things to see here. Check out http://www.citygbg.se/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2942

Very pretty harbour and will worth a visit, lovely colourful buildings and beautiful boats, get the water bus back to the Wake up hotel from here! Lots of places to eat and in close proximity to the fort which is nice to visit and also "the little mermaid"

Was a little underwhelmed by Nyhaven. There were some nice restaurants in the area but other than that, not a great deal to see. You can take the hop on, hop off canal tour from here though.
Good public toilets available here too!

Location: worth visiting on your way to see the Little Mermaid.

Only one street of colourful houses and expensive cafes (that's copenhagen for you). Thought the photos of it were nicer than the actual place - bit disappointed...worth a visit though as has character.
