“Worth many visits”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

A beautiful building in the touristy part of town. The center of the building is an oasis with a lovely cafe. The changing exhibits are always worth visiting. The permanent collection of statues is fantastic. If you live in Copenhagen, it is worth having an annual membership and if you are visiting, it is a welcome respite from the crowds and Tivoli.

“An unexpected treat”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

I did not quite know what I was getting into with this museum, but I went because it has free admission on Sundays. The collection of Greek and Egyptian art is really quite impressive. I was especially impressed by the Sea of Heads and the theater. I would have loved to have seen a performance there if time had allowed.

“Beautiful light, wonderful antiques collection”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

The glyptotek has three parts, connected with a spacious winter garden. The antiques collection was very well done, well-thought out layouts and exhibition pieces with danish/english explanation. During our visit there was a big section for french impressionist painting (which is always enjoyable but you can see them almost everywhere). There was also space for danish artists but I would have liked to have seen more of them. The interior of the building is beautifully designed with great care for materials, details, and light. The shop also has a wide selection of items. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and relaxed. It was allowed to take pictures throughout the whole building.

“A Great Eclectic Collection”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

I spent most of an afternoon here and it was worth every minute. The original building surrounds a closed in central garden which is a very peaceful place to linger in. The collection itself ranges from lovely sculptures via an excellent collection of Danish paintings mainly from the Golden Age period through to a good collection of French Impressionist paintings. The latter also features a rich selection of Gauguin paintings. The French paintings are housed in a newer tower connected to the main building. I felt a warmth in the building and from the staff which I did not get during a visit to the Statens Museum for Kunst.

“So much to see here”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

So many wonderful things to look at here. Sculptures and paintings well exhibited. An exotic winter garden is very amazing. A visit to the cafe is definitely worth a visit: Free entrance on Sundays.
