Scandic Front
Ranked #32 of 118 Hotels in Copenhagen
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This August we stayed at Copenhaguen for 6 nights, which made quite difficult the search of a hotel in the city. We finally chose the Scandic Front, one of the most expensive alternatives but which looked very convenient for its central location and its room size.

We were highly satisfied during our stay. During our search, most of the hotels were offering tiny rooms (around 15 sqm) and having an spacious room really made the difference, especially for a one week stay.

Rooms were clean and convenient, very quite (even considering that we were on a second floor, just over the street level). The only inconvenient is that you need to ask for the cleaning of the room, otherwise they change towels and clean it every 3 days (but in our case, even if we did not ask for it, only one day the room was left unserviced).

Breakfast was good and assorted; english breakfast, cold meat, different kinds of bread, cereals... The only negative point here was not having the option of an espresso or capuccino (only offered paying).

The hotel is located next to Nyhavn and 5 minutes walking to the metro station and Stroget. You can also reach the little mermaid within walking distance (15 minutes), and the hotel offers the option of renting a bike to walk around the city. Only the train station is a little far (30 minutes walking and with no subway connection), but reasonable to reach if the weather is good enough.

In brief, great hotel for an average price (even hostels are not cheap during August in Copenhaguen), highly recommended for a city trip.

Scandic Front is a very good business hotel. Excellent location, the hotel is very close to Nyhavan, walking distance to the street (shopping) and a lot of offices.

What is good

Great location
Decently furnished rooms
Very good Gym (the best i have seen during my travel across Europe)
The internet speeds are fairly good.

What can be better

Service attitude of the reception staff. This is really puts me off especially after a long travel.
Improve the breakfast spread... (change scrambled eggs once in to days)
The doors to some of the rooms are either difficult to open or close.

We stayed one night prior to our Baltic Cruise because we wanted to be close to Nyhavn for the evening and following morning. We read the reviews carefully and had some minor reservation about booking but decided to go ahead. We concur the green shag rugs look a tad tired, the hotel could use a refresh and the elevators are small but those things are minor and nothing to complain about. The room itself was sufficiently roomy, the bathroom was more than adequate and the beds were incredibly comfortable! The breakfast that was included in the price was quite good - most of all the freshly squeezed orange juice which we found to be a real treat. The staff were truly very helpful - even those who didn't speak English. When we were embarking on the ship, we realized we left our camera in the sitting area of the hotel. It only took one phone call and we were reassured that they had rescued it and were holding it for us. They facilitated arrangements to get it to us on the ship and we are grateful for the care they took with a guest's belongings.

My husband and I visited for 3 days. We do not recommend this hotel for visitors from U.S. who are not already fully fluent in "Copenhagen" as a destination. Some staff were quite good/helpful, others, either were not particularly comfortable in English, were uninformed or just did not give a ...... about providing info / service to first time visitors. The room was very expensive -- top floor with loft bedroom -- nice view -- but deferred maintenance in lighting fixtures, bathroom / plumbing.

Room Tip: Do not choose the top floor loft space -- not worth the premium charge / rate.

My wife and I stayed a single night at Scandic Front in one of their junior suites - which we booked at a nice internet rate at 1.635 dkk inclusive of breakfast. We were celebrating our one year anniversary and wanted a nice place to sleep close to where we were going in Copenhagen - so this hotel's location suited us very well.

The room was spacious with a nice sitting area, a dining table, a bed (of course) and a nice large bathroom. No bathtub, unfortuntately, but that is quite hard to come by in Copenhagen. We had a nice view from the 5th floor. Room was equipped with a bose stereo for iPhone - quite nice when I just happen to have a iPhone. 4 nespresso capsules and a coffee maker too.

All in all we had a very nice stay.

Like others, same comment from here that the place seems somewhat run-down, but everything worked fine in our room. Cleaning have been seen better, it was okay - but with a little hair here and there it could be better.

Breakfast was very crowded and hard to find a table. The quality of the breakfast itself was average, okay but nothing special.

All in all a very good stay for the rate paid.

I was booked this hotel through a client, so have no idea of cost. good location, ok sized rooms, not the biggest, but definitely not the smallest.
It was clean, and considering its location quiet. Breakfast was really good for a continental breakfast.
the barman was good, even found an extension lead so i could charge my phone/tablet and laptop before my flight. I would stay here again, both for pleasure and business.

Room Tip: mine was above the entrance, and on the main street and fine, but i am a heavy sleeper!

It is not a four star hotel. It is needing urgent maintenance and cleaning, toilets, beds and, in general, the all bedroom is dirty. Standard rooms are very small, you would not expect such little space for the price you pay (in the same city, there are similar hotels with the same room size, much better cleaning and a third of the cost). A couple of the people in the reception desk is little bit rude -the others are very nice and helpful-.
In my particular case, even safety was compromised: after a long day out, I returned to my room and, the door was opened, the cleaning lady just leave it opened after cleaning, luckily, hotel was not crowed on that day, so no one entered and took my stuff -there are no safes in the room, so, at least my computer and Ipad where on the desk.

Room Tip: Find another hotel
