“Nice hotel, good location”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

I was booked this hotel through a client, so have no idea of cost. good location, ok sized rooms, not the biggest, but definitely not the smallest.
It was clean, and considering its location quiet. Breakfast was really good for a continental breakfast.
the barman was good, even found an extension lead so i could charge my phone/tablet and laptop before my flight. I would stay here again, both for pleasure and business.

Room Tip: mine was above the entrance, and on the main street and fine, but i am a heavy sleeper!

It is not a four star hotel. It is needing urgent maintenance and cleaning, toilets, beds and, in general, the all bedroom is dirty. Standard rooms are very small, you would not expect such little space for the price you pay (in the same city, there are similar hotels with the same room size, much better cleaning and a third of the cost). A couple of the people in the reception desk is little bit rude -the others are very nice and helpful-.
In my particular case, even safety was compromised: after a long day out, I returned to my room and, the door was opened, the cleaning lady just leave it opened after cleaning, luckily, hotel was not crowed on that day, so no one entered and took my stuff -there are no safes in the room, so, at least my computer and Ipad where on the desk.

Room Tip: Find another hotel

This hotel was a great disappointment. It is a very rundown hotel in a good location and is in urgent need of serious maintenance. We paid around $US400 a night for the location but did not expect to pay for mould in bathrooms, reading light hanging by electrical cord from the bed head, curtains half hanging off the tracks, air conditioner that struggled to work, wafer thin towels and the smell of mould waffling through the corridors. The worst thing of all, the staff were fully aware of these issues but had not kept maintenance up to date. We have stayed in a number of centrally located hotels through Scandinavia and Europe and Scandic Front has been the worst by far and the most expensive.

Room Tip: Book accommodation that can be cancelled at any time as when you get into your room it is not always...

This hotel is within walking distance of everything you would want to do in Copenhagen. Not to mention, the free breakfast is incredible and the hotel staff is extremely courteous. I don't know what other reviewers were expecting in terms of room amenities or hotel quality, but this place is just as nice more expensive hotels I have stayed at in Europe. You can't go wrong staying here, and you won't be disappointed. When it comes down to it, location and service are the most important...and this place is top notch in both categories.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money for superior rooms. King size bed, balcony, and free wifi. Well worth it.

I can only agree with other comments. Great location offers tremendous potential but the interior is in dire need of cleaning, painting and major updates. We booked 2 rooms, 1 standard and 1 superior room. The only difference was the Nespresso machine and the location on the waterfront side of the hotel. Superior room had a strange smell to it, which could have been from smoking (non-smoking room) or from mold in the bathroom or both. The bathroom of room 104 (superior) was in bad shape. the design concept is nice: pebble floor (hygiene??), mosaic tiles on the wall. The hanging toilet was placed slanted: the right side was about 1.5 cm lower than the left side. The wood ceiling was cracked and peeled. The shower comes with a rain shower which was covered in white and green deposits (calcium/lime) and looked as if was hanging loose. The built in closet near the entrance door had it's ceiling missing so wiring and tubes were showing.
A positive element was the coffee maker in the room. The Nespresso machine definitely offered better coffee than the breakfast buffet.
When in the breakfast area, avoid looking into the black design lamps from Kartell on the window sills: you will discover huge layers of dust that will spoil your appetite.

Our daughters' room was in somewhat better shape but still not the value we expected for the rate we paid.

When we complained at the reception desk, the clerk on duty was very nice but apparently tired of hearing the same complaints all over. He recommended us to put our comments on Tripadvisor; the only way to get management moving. We received a price reduction on both rooms as compensation.
Some improvement tips to the Scandic management:
Keep the idea of a design interior but follow the international trend of Scandinavian design.
Pull out the nasty carpeting that hotels seem to favor and put in PU-flooring which is easy to maintain, allergy proof and warm to the touch.

Perfect localization, close to Nyhavn and Amalienborg Slotsplads. It's also a walking distance to Ostroget.
The hotel has bikes to rent. If they don't have at the time you order, there is another one just in front.

The bedroom is HUGE, wonderful.

Mixed feelings about the hotel. There is huge potential , but room for improvement.

The good:
Cool design in lobby and restaurant , nice room furniture

comfy beds

Delicious food at restaurant and for breakfast

Good Wifi

Nice toiletries

Fantastic Location

One of the few hotels with ac in Copenhagen

The bad:

Rooms are dark , poor lighting

Room wasn't serviced and staff didn't explain it was necessary to ask

Ugly carpet

Hall area was dark and not attractive

Elevators

When I checked in to our waterfront room ( which was not ready at 4:00 pm when we arrived - we were offered refreshments while waiting) , there were 6 black flies buzzing about and a water stain on the ceiling with moisture droplets. When I told reception about the flies , the man at the reception completely minimized the fact saying the window had been open etc. , no apology or offer to help.

The other staff member saw that it was not pleasant to have giant black flies buzzing in the hotel room and offered to help " shoo" them...later , a few were still sitting quietly on the ceiling .

I would give this hotel a 3.5 rating...there is room to improve. The attitude about the flies annoyed me ... I would have gievn it a 4 otherwise.
