“In Copenhagen the place to stay if you like design and the "cool factor" is important”
Reviewed June 28, 2011

This was by far the best of all tje designer boutique hotels I stayed at in my Scandanavian trip. I was in a king bed supreme room that overlooked the harbour. Everything in this hotel is well designed with a Scandanavian cool factor on the high end. The room was large, big floor to ceiling windows that opened with a glass railing. Very 70's modern with shag carpeting Danish modern furniture etc. Staff were very helpful an easy to look at if you know what I mean. The elevators were the only annoying factor, while retro, they are the old narrow double doored European type were 3 people felt crowded. The wireless Internet worked flawlessly which is so important today. I would gladly return to this hotel and highly recommend it to others.....I forgot to
mention the loaner bikes the hotel provides also!

I have stayed here a few times and didn't like it but was booked in here by business travel again as other hotels full - wonder why the Scandic Front has rooms when the others are fully booked? My stay here reminded me of why I don't like this hotel and I wont be staying here again..
Suprised reading reviews here of good rooms with good views. I have always been overlooking street and front of hotel and it's noisy and hot - no air conditioning but open your window and get woken up by drunks and revellers, taxi's, cars ....
The rooms I have stayed in have been quite horrible - they have shagpile carpet, some parts of which are crunchy so you wonder what had been spilt on the floor or what horrors are hiding. The bathroom flooring is concreted pebbles - totally weird and sore on the feet, again probably not the easiest to clean so some strange stains. The walls in my room had black marks on them so it didn't feel very clean or well housekept.
My room was very small - single bed just fitting in, no bedside table (no room) and poor lighting (no room light just lamps); positive - iron in room, good shower.
The lifts are old and could do with a refurbishment; breakfast room is ok as Danish breakfasts as always are good, reception staff are friendly.
Really the only major positive is location, close to Nyhaven; but of course that's also a negative due to the noise; I am not going to stay here again if I can avoid it.

Dear Frequenttraveller046,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, and I am very sorry that your have this impression.

In regards to your review there is some things I would like to point out.

The hotel has air-conditioning in all our rooms, so I don’t understand this being referred to as non existing.

If you book a single room, this of cause is not our most spacious rooms, but from my point of view has all amenities which can be expected.

However I am very sorry that you have this impression, and I must admit that our decor and room lay-out do not fall in to everyone’s taste

Hope that you will find a Hotel that suit your needs.

Kind regards,

Terrific location right on the waterfront, 500m from Royal Palace, in the thick of all activity but still quiet and relaxed. My wife picked the hotel for a birthday weekend. The hotels location is super, close to everything. We rented bicycles from the for 2 days, went everywhere around the city and back, even took them on train to Louisiana, very recommended. Rooms are large and spacious on the 6th floor. Functional as opposed to luxurious. Staff were very helpful though busy at rush hour, such as breakfast. While delicious, we felt sorry that so many customers were pressing them. Still come here for the location and beauty, and sample Copenhagen's finest fish food at its many fiske restaurants. We truly enjoyed our week at the Scandic Front! This was a panic booking, because I could find virtually no other hotels available for a seven-night stay. (The tour books tell you about Ascension Day being a holiday, but don't tell you Europeans make a four-day weekend out of it!) Faced with limited choices I booked one of the Superior Plus rooms--more than I'd wanted to pay, but it turned out just great! We had a balcony overlooking town, and an in-room Nespresso machine. We were able to unpack and put away our clothes for the week, and had a living room area in which to lounge for a late-afternoon drink--much better than having only a bed to hang out upon. Staff were helpful and friendly; the breakfast was amazing; we made use of the basement sauna, which staff turned on for us. The sauna is private for guests who reserve it; it can only be accessed by staff key. I appreciated having an ironing board in the room. The location was amazing, too--one block off of Nyhavn, and five minutes from the Kongens Nytorv (metro stop) and the entrance to the Stroget. We were very comfortably accommodated! Be sure to eat at Told & Snaps, just down the street and just off of Nyhavn--exquisite smorrebrod and unbelievable homemade "snaps"--herbal and floral-infused alcohol. It's only open for lunch.

The room was clean although a bit small. The breakfast was really amazing and the location too, few steps from an amazing view.

Minors: the air conditioning was not working well. Our accommodation was on the lowest floor with windows on the street side: avoid this since it can be very noisy and people from the cars can see you in your room! At night the traffic was also annoying plus they were doing road works too... Choose a room in the backside.

Dear eee77

Thank you for your comments and kind words.

Unfortunately there has been some construction going on outside the hotel, however this has now ended:-)

In regards to the air conditioning this has now been dealt with and sorted out, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Hope to see you back

A hotel that overlooks the canals of Copenhagen, what else can you ask for? Okay, coming back from the sudden romantic point of view - the check in was fast and friendly, the lobby area was very special with a big black wall with scribblings, doodles and comments written all across, complimented with colorful furniture was a treat! The elevators are really old stle, probably because of the age of the bulding, but safe. The rooms are very decent with reasonably sized toilets. Our rooms was facing the Opera House and tha water front and that was simply amazing. We stayed there only for a night but the location is so superb that it is a short walk to no matter what comes to your head: Café, Pubs, night clubs, Nyhavn, Kongens Nytorv, sight seeing, shopping, etc. etc.
Very nice and very chic - would love to go back.

Room Tip: Try and get rooms facing the waterfront

This hotel has an excellent location next to Nyhon port and the central place.
It was clean with fast and free internet access.
The breakfast was satisfactory with a plus the freshly squeezed orange juice.
The reception staff was very polite and they gave us touristc informations and directions, even for the train routes. -Don't miss Hillerod and Fredericksborg Slot, is only 25 min train ride and it's magic!!
Ask for a cannal view room. It's totaly worth it. View to the Opera and the dock! Open the window have a beer and you'll have your personal balcony to beauty.
On the minus side the staff and tables in breakfast weren't enough and the bicycle rent in the hotel was too expensive! In Greece you can rent a car with that money!!!
