My daughter and I stayed here in August and then again in September, 2012. The location is very good. Left out the door about 100 yards is Rosenborg, the park and the 'castle' in which the crown jewels of Denmark are kept (and you can visit). The park itself is a lot of fun, especially when it is quite sunny and hot (OK, fairly rare in Copenhagen but...) as the sunbathers come out like spring flowers (cover the eyes of the children, Lucille!). Right out the door and a few easy walking blocks, you come to Kongens Nytorv, a central hub place of the city and entry to Nyhavn and the walking streets complex. We were on the top floor, a room with two single beds each time, roomy enough, simple fixtures, clean and neat, with a large window. The bathroom was not spacious but totally functional and fine. One understands that hotels in Europe and DK notably, can run up the price of any vacation quite rapidly: so one needs to ask, what is important? Here, the beds are comfortable, it was clean and neat, the TV worked. Breakfast was extensive even featuring Danish sweet rolls (which normally appear on tables in homes only at lunch or afternoons with coffee) and then a running a coffee service through the day with sweet rolls, fruit and cookies. The Danes, like the Dutch, are - in my opinion - not really cut out for being hoteliers, so to be honest, my expectations are basic when here: cleanliness, comfort, quiet, suitable breakfast, nice and helpful staff. These are all met at the Christian IV.

Room Tip: Rooms not on the street might be quieter

Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We faced the front but were never bothered by noise as the street has little traffic.

Breakfast was quite good and coffee, juice, and pastries are available in the breakfast room all day. The small lounge was comfortable and had a computer, printer, and newspapers.

Hotel Christian IV is a short walk from Kongens Nytorv, the King's Garden, and Nyhavn.

Employees were uniformly helpful and friendly.

We stayed at Hotel Christian IV for three days, as we enjoyed Copenhagen and all of the sights and great restaurants. The hotel is situated just perfectly on a very quiet street with absolutely NO traffic and 50 yards away from the city's most historic and beautiful garden, The King's Garden. You are within walking distance of everything (Metro and trains are also a 5 minute walk away), there's free Wi-fi, and the staff are very friendly. Nice breakfast, too!
Would recommend this great little hotel to anyone! :-)

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. Rooms are compact but clean and the breakfast in the morning is very good. They have bike rentals which make it easy to get around but their location is great to walk to shopping, restaurants, etc.

The hotel is in the center of town, very pleasant and comfortable. the room was very nice and specious, with large windows watching on the back yard. the bed was the coziest bed I ever slept on in a hotel. Breakfast is very good, lots of stuff! The thing I liked the most is that they have a nice relax room with computer station and free internet and wi-fi. Also tea, coffee, pastries are available in every hour. We also used their bicycle service and they were very good and comfy. The price is a bit high if your'e looking for something cheap but it's totally worth it! We enjoyed the hotel very much.

I stayed in Room 52 on Floor 5. The room is kind of acceptable (to say the maximum) - not tiny, but not cosy, absolutely no frills (not particularly warm and tender). If you are on business and spend not too much time in the room, it is o.k. The bathroom is, however, a complete disaster - a 4 star hotel ??????? The bathroom is very small, no shower basin so the water from the shower runs freely on the floor to a central drain which is located right under the (hand) wash basin - there is no water holder (barrier) of any kind. This means, therefore, that if you have a shower then you will have to walk on a completely wet floor when you wash your teeth, face etc. Further, the bathroom floor is covered with linoleum (!!! - unbeliavable) and the water pressure is also extremely low. Given the importance of the bathroom from the overall feel about your hotel, I am sure that you will not feel this ok for a 4 star hotel. I do not understand how the hotel management has the courage/face to sell this as a four start hotel (at least as regards Room 52). Otherwise, the hotel's location is good/central, the breakfast is kind of ok. Free coffee/tea/croissant.

Room Tip: Not 52!!!!

Dear GaborM,
Thank you for taking your time to review our hotel. Let me start by apologizing about the fact that you were not satisfied with the standard of the bathroom in room 52. I have personally taken a closer look at the bathroom and I agree with you that this particular bathroom is small compared to other bathrooms at Hotel Christian IV as well as bathrooms in other hotels. Since we have been challenged from the start by the size of the bathroom, we have done what we can to make sure everything needed in the bathroom is present. This means that the shower and sink are very close to eachother; I understand and I agree that this causes some minor problems. I will see if there is anything that can be changed to improve upon it.
Please note that we are a 3-Star hotel and not a 4-Star hotel as you write. This difference may have strengthened the fact that we have been unable to fulfill the expectations you have of a 4-Star property.
I don’t know if you brought it to the attention of our front desk personnel, but I know they would have done what they could to move you to a different room with a larger bathroom.
I am glad that you enjoyed our central location in Copenhagen and that our breakfast and free coffee/tea buffet was to your liking as well.
We thank you for your constructive criticism and we will try to see if there is anything we can do to improve the bathroom in room 52.
Sincerely,
Kasper Jorgensen
General Manager

The hotel is located in a great place in Copenhagen. Most places are within a short waling distance.
It is also close to two subway stations and a large bus station. Perfectly to get around the city (if you do not plan to use bikes)

The hotels looks very good from the exterior, but the single room is really small, even by Eropean standards.
