Phoenix Copenhagen
Ranked #32 of 119 Hotels in Copenhagen
Reviewed April 13, 2014

Copenhagen is not known for its hotels. This hotel is a good average hotel (great for Copenhagen) with breakfast, room service and 24 hour reception. The cleaning is good and the service polite. Location is amazing in the middle of Copenhagen. Only two things that were a bit off is the bed which was a bit used and therefore very soft and the hotel was a bit run down. You will not get an experience that is out of the ordinary here, but it is a very acceptable base to have, while you are out doing the sights. Did not try the food at all - as Copenhagen is known for its great restaurants and cafés.

Room Tip: My room 1123 had a inside view of the hotel which was not very thrilling.

Dear traveller,
Thank you for your feedback from end stay earlier this month. We appreciate your positive comments on our hotel, location and breakfast buffet. We are sorry to hear the room you stayed in didn’t have preferred location and bed was too soft. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back at Copenhagen and we will do our utmost to reserve a room with preferred location and bed type.
Kind regards

A friend and I stayed for one night, march 15th. We were greeted by a group of drunken guests. No big deal, even though we were surprised that they were allowed to harrass arriving guests. The problem arrived later when drunken guests (the same?) tried to get in to our room at 3 am, sceaming and yelling. Even though the hotel has CCTV everywhere no one came. No number to the reception in the room. Finally we got lucky guessing and someone arrived. After additional discussion in the corridor the staff got them away. The incident destroyed our stay, try going back to sleep after such an incident!

After the stay I contacted the hotel and (after waiting for a few weeks) got the response that they can't accept responsability for the incident and that I should be happy with the late (1 hour) check out. Unacceptable. I will never, ever stay at an Arp-Hansen hotel again.

Dear traveler,

Your email to our CEO from beginning this month has been forwarded to my attention and as previous e-mails written to our Front office Manager. We are always grateful when our guests take the time to tell us about their stay here regardless of the nature of the feedback as it helps us to improve.

I have already been informed about the situation with the drunken man knocking on your door during the night by our Front Office Manager. It is a very unfortunately situation for which I do apologize.

However, we are not able to control the behaviour and whereabouts of our guests. As soon as we were informed about the situation we put a stop to the disturbance.

We do understand that this incident was disruptive for your sleep and that is why the reception gave you a late check out the next day.

Once again we are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you, but we are still not able to offer a new stay.

Kind regards

This hotel is ideally situated for a weekend break in Copenhagen. The price is very fair for the area and although the hotel is starting to become slightly dated it still holds its charm.
The rooms are of a good size with all the standard facilities such as TV, robes, minibar etc. The beds are extremely comfortable and you also get Molton Brown shower gels which is a nice touch!!

Breakfast is served in the basement (it's light and spacious) and is continental style and sets you up for they day (make sure you fill up as it's very expensive in Copenhagen and skipping breakfast could cost you £30 eating out).
There is a restaurant attached to the hotel however with so many top restaurants in the area I would give it a miss. If you don't want to venture too far from the hotel for dinner then try 'MASH', a steak house just down the road (out and right of hotel about 2mins walk). It is a little pricey haowever the streak is amazing.

The hotel is situated just north of the city centre, however Copenhagen itself is a small city and you can walk anywhere or catch a bus from just outside of the hotel.
To get to the hotel just get the metro from the airport to Kongens Nytrov (8stops). It's around £3-£4 per person for a ticket.

As iv said Copenhagen itself is very expensive however it's also extremely beautiful and if you go with the understanding you will spend a lot of money then you'll have a fantastic time.

Stay here for a reasonable priced hotel in a good location with fantastic service.

We are trilled to read that you had a fantastic time in Copenhagen were you experienced fantastic service from our staff had a nice Exective room (with Molton Brown soaps, shampoo and other room amenities) and enjoyed our breakfast buffet. As you just wrote in your review we are looking forward to welcome you back at Phoenix Copenhagen on your next visit in Copenhagen, when a good room price, down town location with excellent service is preferred.

Stayed at the Phoenix hotel on a city break holiday in early April. We had an executive room which was very comfortable with plenty of room to move about. The furnishings were of a high standard and the bed was extremely comfortable. There were two English speaking news stations on the TV.
The breakfast room is in a semi basement but has a very pleasant ambience with plenty of space between tables. The breakfast itself is also excellent with hot food and plenty of cold food Danish style. I have suffered weak orange Juice and weird coffee in many a hotel but at the Phoenix, these items were excellent. The reception staff are also first class.
The position of the hotel is also very good. It is only a short walk to the big square called Kongens Nytorv where there is a Metro station ( a direct ride to and from the Airport for 36 DKK each way) and the back entrance to Magasin, the big and beautiful department store. It is also the Northern start point for the famous walking street Stroget.
Nyhaven with all restaurants and colourful character is just round the corner.
The 1A bus goes past the door if you want to go to the Tivoli/Town Hall area, or the other way to North Copenhagen eg. Hellerup. In summary, a great place to stay in Copenhagen.

I booked the hotel at random, most of all looking for a place to stay close to everything in intercity Copenhagen. Ended up staying at this posh 4- star hotel with what great staff. A lot of value for my money and a perfect stay for our week end. Nyhavn is right around the corner and so is Ströget with all its shops and restaurants. I will return for sure.

I have just spent a couple of nights at the Phoenix, traveling alone I had booked a single room, after seeing the reviews I was expecting little more than a cupboard but what I got was adequate.
The room was about half of the size of a UK Travelodge, for three times the price, but the this is after all Denmark .
Staff in all areas were very friendly, I will be back on my next trip, the location is 1st. Class.

I was here for 3 nights in March 2014. The rooms are roomy, quaint and lovely and offer good value for money. Plus a good sized bathroom. The location is central and very close to the Nyhavn and the main shopping strip and many good restaurants nearby.
The breakfast was very good and with a wide choice. Wifi was good and fast. My only complaint was the the water pressure of the shower.
