“Good for business trips”
Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

Since it was a business trip and booking was done by one of the colleague was not sure where self was landing in. Especially after reading some of the reviews. But was quite contented after a week's stay. The front desk staff are really soft spoken, kind and helpful. The hotel seems to be really old but well maintained. Only the round stairs are little scary as they are tilted at one side. The rooms are small but good if one is staying for work purpose. Didn't get a chance to taste the lunch and dinner but the breakfast was good with courteous staff with smile on their faces welcoming and assisting the guests. There is a small open terrace inside the hotel and can be used for smoking n dining as well. The water bottles provided in the room is not complimentary. The location of the hotel is good, close by to most of the major attractions, restaurants, shopping places and metro as well. In any case cabs are available on call. In the morning during peak hours one can request the assistance of the hotel staff for a can if required and they assist you in a professional manner, quite impressive. There is a coffe shop as well which quite decent. Since it was summer time didn't had any problem with the air con. The housekeeping staff also did an excellent job. The room was cleaned everyday spick and span. Overall the stay was good definetly three cheers to the staff who did their jobs diligently and always with a smile on their face.

When I first moved in, I was a little disappointed that I wasn't in a fancy Danish design hotel. After staying one week and seeing other hotels in the area, I can say that I would take this place over all of them. It is charismatic, with good beds, quiet rooms and the nicest staff. Actually, I was moved by how nice they were, especially at their huge breakfast buffet. Maybe the water appliances are a bit old, but that is really the only thing I can find for criticism so that you believe my words of praise.
The room service salmon was also excellent.

We stayed at Phoenix for family vacation. The location is great, very near Nyheaven, the castle and some other attractions that are walking distance. They have breakfast included which was ok, internet included which was great... the only thing that did bother us is that they have some steps at the front, and there was no bell boy when we arrived. Our suitcases were heavy so that was a drag. Also the entrance to the hotel is right next to the street and there was no room for parking, so when our bus arrived we were hurried to get on it so as not to obstruct the street. Other than that this is a nice hotel, very comfortable beds and sheets.

Dear Traveller,
Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you found our location great and liked the breakfast buffet. We are sorry to hear that none of our bellboys were available when you checked in at the hotel. We always do all we can to assist our guests but sometimes many guests arrives at the same time. Stopping and parking is not legal at our main entrance in Bredgade. Our entrance is too close to a cross road. However it is possible to stop at our side entrance in Dronningens Tværgade.
Kind regards

I would stay at the Phoenix Copenhagen again. Helpful, friendly staff that let me check into my room really early in the day! Terrific location, walking distance from everything including Metro. Very nice breakfast. Room was small but adequate. Very quiet.

The hotel is located about 2 blocks away from the famous Nyhavn street, ( there is also Metro station there that goes directly to the airport) as well as walking distance from the popular shopping street- very convenient to get around.

We booked a room with three beds ( one queen and one single sofa bed) just for one night. The room is spacious enough for three, and the bathroom was big and clean. However, the hotel walls, rooms, building itself has a very old, out of modern impression... yes, in modern city like Copenhagen. maybe I expected too much from 4 star hotel, but this was my impression.

The breakfast was excellent, buffet with good selection of everything. Since it is Amazingly expensive to eat around the area, it was a good choice that we booked a room with breakfast.

Dear Traveller,
Thank your for your review of Phoenix Copenhagen. We are glad to hear that you liked our down town location where everything is within walking distance. The building of Phoenix Copenhagen is dated back to year 1830’s so we are not a modern styled hotel. It is always profitable to book a room including breakfast if you are sure to have it when a discount is given when breakfast is bought with the room.
We hope that you enjoyed your visit to Copenhagen earlier and like to visit Phoenix Copenhagen again.
Kind regards

We spent three nights at the Phoenix, before joining a cruise. We had a lot of luggage which made the room feel a little cramped, but everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were helpful, the breakfast very good, we liked the coffee pots on each table, no need to look for refills. The location was perfect, we could walk to all the places we wanted to see. Free Wi Fi was a bonus, which was useful, as were the computers in the reception area. TV had perfect reception and English speaking channels. My friend was returning to Copenhagen and had no hesitation in booking a room at the Phoenix before we left.

I spent one week at this hotel, and although I was a bit nervous due to the mixed reviews, I found the stay quite nice. After the first night, I did what the hotel management recommended doing if I was not satisfied: I requested another - more quiter room, as the one I had - despite a magnificant roof top view of the Marble church - had the downside that an engine went on and off the whole day. In the morning I asked if there was another room available without that disturbing noise. I did not mind traffic noise, as this is to be expected when residing in the middle of a city, however, I got a room facing the back yard. Although the room was smaller than the one I had, I got the mist important thing: No noise going on and off.

The breakfast was good - a buffet with fruits, cereals, bread, and what you can expect of a breakfast buffet. It is not a big buffet, but I am sure you can find something of your likings.

I enjoyed my stay, and found the service good and helpful. I'll will definitly return.
