The rooms may be small but they do what they need to do: provide a comfortable bed; have an adequate shower. Mind you, do not bring much luggage as storage space is decidedly limited.
Some reviews report that all rooms are air-conditioned, they are not but our windows provided plenty of quiet ventilation which is better than air conditioning.

The breakfast counter is varied and copious. Could easily set one up for a long day of sight-seeing around this wonderfully compact city.

We were also here for a conference which was based directly across from the side entrance, in the Moltke's Palace, and in the OddFellows Hall opposite the front door. All very convenient.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you had a nice business visit at Phoenix Copenhagen. Not all of our rooms have air-condition but just as you mentioned Copenhagen always have a strong wind coming from the sea that makes it possible to get a even better ventilation by opening the window. If this is not good enough we can always provide the guest room with a wind fan.
Kind regards

Nervous about other reviews of standard room, I was easily able to "upgrade" our reservation from standard even though hotel was "booked". Reviews are correct: we had to lug our baggage up the two sets of steps ourselves, No doorman. Front desk respectful but cool. They would not discuss a miscommunication in earlier reservation requesting rate including breakfast (which we refused to pay for). Room size OK, still a bit small, but quiet, This hotel is as one reviewer noted a tired old lady that could be grand if updated. No excuse for not repairing chipped and peeling paint. We changed hotels after one night to be with friends. Please note: they have the nerve to surcharge any foreign credit cards--beware.

Room Tip: Hotel on busy street; take a room on side. Standards are tiny. If you have heavy luggage well don't stay there.

Dear traveller,

Thank you for taking your time to express your personal feedback of Phoenix Copenhagen. Phoenix Copenhagen is a 4 star hotel and we do not have a doorman, which is only required in 5 star hotels. We are sorry we were not able to assist you with your lugage when checking in. We are aware of steps going from our historic entrance to the lobby level. At any time of the day we have bellboys assiting with luggage but some periods of the day we are more busy than others. We are sorry to hear that you were not informed about our credit card fee. Credit card fees are written on all confirmation, by our homepage and through associating travel agents, written on registration card filled out when checking in and on credit card point terminals in the lobby. If you like to make payment without using your credit card, payment is also possible to do in cash (local or other currencies) or by bank-transfer 7 days before visit.
Kind regards

This was a very large hotel by my standards, with an opulent reception (water feature, marble etc). Staff were as friendly as you'd expect in a continental hotel. The lifts are double-sided, probably used to holding dozens of people. The room was nicely-sized, with a comfortable bed and decent toilet. The only off-putting thing was the huge window looking right onto the road, meaning that people could (probably) see in. The breakfast was OK, but I expected more choice as someone who follows a largely vegetarian diet.

Nevertheless, it was in an excellent location, and is a strong place to stay if you are on a work-related trip in particular.

Dear traveller,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad to read that you had a nice business stay at Phoenix Copenhagen in november last year. Our rooms either have a view to the street or our courtyard. Your request for a bigger selection of vegetarian food in our restaurant has been given to our Restaurant Manager. If you in the future have special requests for breakfast please do not hesitate to tell us before or during your stay. We hope to have the chance to be welcoming you again in the nearest future.

Kind regards

The hotel itself has small rooms and is dated.

On the plus side, the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Given the convenience of public transport in Copenhagen, I would personally recommend some of the more slightly 'out of town' ARP Hansen hotels (this hotel is of the same chain) which are newer and have bigger rooms.

Room Tip: Single rooms are tiny. Courtyard rooms are a better option as they are quieter (its a busy part of town).

Thank you for your review and thank you for staying with us this month. We are glad you liked our staff and our down town location. As you wrote in your review, The Arp-Hansen Hotel Group has 11 hotels in Copenhagen. They all have different style, location and charm. We are sorry that Phoenix Copenhagen is not your preferable hotel in our hotel chain.
We hope we can welcome you to another Arp-Hansen Hotel next time you are in Copenhagen.
Kind regards

Don't get fooled by the nice pictures - this hotel had its good days long ago. Standard rooms are small, interior is old (fashioned). Breakfast room too small and it is crowded at all times. Requests at the reception were noted with a smile and then ignored. Yes, the location is great but Copenhagen is not that of a big city so pretty much everything is in walking distance anyway. For the close to 200 Euros for a single room you just feel ripped off. WLan for free but only at the lobby - no internet service at the rooms. Overall, a pity as you can feel the great history of the hotel but it obviously has never arrived in the 21st century...

Dear Traveller,

Thank you for taking the time to express your views regarding your recent stay with us. We are sorry to hear that you we did not fulfilled your expectation for your stay at Phoenix Copenhagen. Single and Double rooms are available at Phoenix Copenhagen in 3 different categories: Standard, Superior and Executive. Restaurant Von Plessen has 150 seats so it is only a very few number of days a year where the restaurant is full and waiting time might occur. We are sorry if you visited us on one of these days. All our guets are welcome to use our free wireless internet connection. The internet can be used all over the hotel including in the guest rooms. You did not write in your review what your requests were but we take all requests serious and we are sorry if your requests were not fulfilled.

Kind regards
