Even with just average reviews on Trip, they are overrated. The 4 stars they have need to reevaluated. To say small bedroom is being kind - one almost trips over bed walking into the room. The bathtub is too high and too narrow making it rather precarious stepping in and out - and I'm 6'4" and agile. WHile the sheets, towels and room were clean, cleaning service doesn't feel it necessary to set out clean glasses or throw away empty shampoos in the shower. Copenhagen has MUCH better hotels in better locales and at better prices.

Dear traveller,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us. Phoenix Copenhagen is evaluated each year by the Danish turism organization we have been a 4 star hotel since the re-opening in 1991. Phoenix Copenhagen has 3 different catagories of rooms. Standard, Superior and Executive. The Standard room is our smallest category and the Executive is the largest.
Your comment regarding the bathtub has been duly noted along with your comments about the glasses and the shampoo and been passed on to the departments involved.
We are sorry for the experience you have had during your stay and hope we do have the opportunity to welcome you next time you are in Copenhagen
Kind regards
PHOENIX COPENHAGEN

Great location in an upmarket part of the city, and close to the offices of my company. Great service at check in, and a very comprehensive breakfast buffet. Room was small, but was very clean. Also liked the fact that it was not a modern, sleek hotel, but in an old building with beautiful fittings. Did not use wifi so can't comment on speed etc. Not sure if there is a pool or fitness center.

Room Tip: My room overlooked the courtyard and was very quiet.

My wife and i Spent 4 nights as tourists in an executive room. We used Expedia to book the hotel the night before at a special rate of about $500 Australian for the 4 nights. After reading reviews about room size we asked for an upgrade on arrival. No problem - just a few dollars more a night. The room was great - plenty of space to spread bags out with room left. We were on the 2nd floor facing the main road and road noise was minimal. We didn't use the restaurant as there are so many places within a 5 minute walk. Room service was OK - although they didn't replace used bathroom glasses and the bathrobes didn't get replaced after the first night - we phoned reception to get new robes and they said yes if they had any spare - unfortunately not. Only wish would be for tea/coffee in room. We would use this hotel again...

I stayed at the Phoenix for a week while on business. As I was not in my room a whole lot, and I was by myself, room size was not an issue. However, the room was small and there was barely room to walk around the end of the bed. So use this as an excuse to get out and explore! The hotel is quite convenient to the main square, and any most of the main sites are within walking distance, especially if you have full days to explore. Room service is minimal, but again, with so many great restaurants and reasons to be out and about, this should only be used if necessary. For a dinner without walking, though, make a trip downstairs to the restaurant (reservations on weekends even in winter!) and enjoy watching some of the locals eat and enjoy their time out. Breakfast is a typical spread/mix of European breads, meats and cheeses, along with some yogurt, oatmeal, and then some traditional eggs, bacon, french toast. etc.
Notes: No alarm clock or dresser in the room.

Room Tip: I would recommend upgrading if you have the chance.

nice looking hotel, central location is the best advert, but the lack of service and room size is what lets it down badly, some of the rooms are cupboard size and not worth the price at all. breakfast is ok.

Room Tip: dont accept any of their tiny rooms

For me, this was a fantastic stay. Upon arrival, we were told we were getting a free upgrade to the "Marienborg Suite". This turned out to be a true suite of 3 rooms. Have never stayed in a hotel room that has 3 rooms, 2 flat panel tv's, a bathroom and a separate guest toilet as well! Location is great, with just a short walk up and across to Marienborg, where you can the Busby-hatted guards march around, much like London but without the crowds - I think there were only about 5 people wandering around the whole square! Also, unlike Buckingham palace it was quite surprising that you could just walk up to the palace and do pretty much whatever you like without anybody watching. 5 mins the other way and you are at the metro and the Magasin department store right in the centre.

Dinner in the Ale bar downstairs was quite acceptable, although there are some very decent Danish celebrity-chef run restaurants nearby if it's not included in your package. As a Brit living in Denmark, I can also confirm the country is indeed hideously expensive. Luckily, the breakfast buffet next morning was top class and is a great way to stuff your face so you can skip lunch.

Overall, can heartily recommend this place and the location is excellent. I doubt I'll get the suite next time though, as that helped make it an unforgettable weekend.

I spent two weeks here on business. How to sum it up. First the good. Friendly, helpful, consistently good service. It is in a fabulous location close to everything you want to do with a ton of dining and entertainment options. The negative. Really small rooms. I would go with an upgraded and larger room next time. You will be charged every day for breakfast and it is exactly the same every day. It is standard fare but nothing imaginative or exciting. On checkout indicate any days you did not have breakfast and they will remove the charges with a smile. No hassle. The on premise restaurant is small and pleasant with good service. However, the menu is really limited. When it is cold out and you are busy it is nice not to have to go out. The restaurant was only disappointing with respect to having about 8 or 9 choices. Not a big deal.

In summary, a solid hotel that excels on service and location but disappoints on standard room size and in house restaurants. On my next trip I will stay at the Admiral which is in the same area but looks to have a higher trip advisor rating.
