Maybe I am being a bit unfair to Relae, but we had just had an exceptional lunch at Amass that same day and these guys just didn't quite match up, neither in terms of the locale, the service or the food. Don't get me wrong, the place is nice, the service is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is good and inventive, but simply not as outstanding as at Amass. The one dish that was truly memorable, was the squid, leek and bergamot starter. It seemed like tagliatelle... made of squid. They basically layer the squid, freeze it and then slightly thaw it before cutting it into long ribbons. That then is briefly cooked in browned butter before adding the separately cooked leek and finely chopped bergamot. I will try and make this myself, it was wonderful. It was a nice dinner, but them charging heftily for small extra glasses of wine was a bit much and soured the memory. Overall, good, but not great. Three and a half stars.
