You really need reservations for this elegant traditional restaurant. We were lucky to get a table for lunch on a rainy Tuesday in May. The restaurant is small, a few steps down from the street level, with tables close together, and has a very cosy old-fashioned feel. We are not big eaters and ordered one sandwich plate each but most of the regular business crowd ordered a number of plates, one after another. I ordered a plate with three types of fish, with crayfish salad, salmon and a wonderful cured fish I can't remember the name of. My husband got the straight pickled herring plate and it was not as interesting. We enjoyed talking to the Norwegians sitting next to us who ordered a delicious looking fried flatfish which came with a wonderful sauce. They also let us try a fried bread appetizer that was wonderful. Of course we had a glass with aquavit with the meal! In the end we did not spend too much because we did not order so much food, but the wait staff was so nice to us anyway. Really a wonderful feeling in this place.
