Owner description: The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

The castle houses a rich collection of objects belonging to the Danish royals. The tour provides a glimpse of what life was like in the Danish court years ago. The pieces are stunningly beautiful, especially the tapestries and porcelains. It well worth the visit.

Copenhagen surprised me with all its castles and amazing architecture. We came through the northside park, with its maze and statuary and first views of Rosenborg. As we walked around the building to the entrance, a military parade of some sort was going on, so that just made it a little more fun to be there!

The castle has some interesting views inside, including 3 graceful silver lions in the throne room. The ceilings were fun to look at and I have a particular passion for amazing clocks! If you like clocks, Copenhagen is definitely a city to visit!

Under the castle is where the jewels and crowns are kept. We took turns standing in front of the display case and snapping some great photos that make it look like we are wearing the crowns! Others saw what we were doing and did the same thing. Did my cousin come up with this idea or have others done it before?!!

We came here earlier in our stay but it was closed because the Queen had a function so we tried back later in the week. We tour the open rooms and were able to see the Crown Jewels in their full splendor and glory. The docents were very helpful in explaining anything to do with the history of a particular King or Queen or history in general. Beautiful grounds - it would be neat to see what it looks like in the spring/summer.

Rosenberg Castle is not too far from the Round Tower. The gardens are very nice and well kept. Pack a picnic especially if traveling with kids.
