Owner description: The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

“Small castle, great visit”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

The castle is located near Stroget, hence you can walk there. We enjoyed the walk through the park. It's beautiful and peaceful.

When you reach the castle grounds, you can actually download the castle guide and scan the QR code to read the history and description. We would have preferred to have audio guide though.

The castle is not big by European standards. The castle is decorated differently from many others in Europe, hence is was pretty interesting. We like the Treasury, looking at the jewels.

Free wifi on castle grounds.

“The Crown Jewells!”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

This visit was great! Period rooms and tapestries etc abound! The Armoury was also excellent but the best bit was seeing all the Crown Jewels...The Crowns were just ...wow! Other pieces of jewellery the same!

“Worth a view”

Free with Copenhagen card.
About an hour way from Copenhagen but easily accessed via train (also free with Copenhagen card).
Had to place bags in locker and needed to pay a fee in order to take a camera in.
Nice castle, lovely grounds. Nice to see the Danish Crown Jewels To be honest the gardens are the best bit; I took some lovely photos of the Castle whilst stood on an incline in the gardens, showing gardens beneath, the moat and the castle.
