Owner description: The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

The tour of the castle and crown jewels are well worth the effort. The gardens are also worth a visit.

Decided to visit to escape the heat of the day.
Gardens are free but nothing special. The rose garden is pleasant typically English .
At £10 per person not an expensive attraction - no guided tour but free wifi and downloadable guide for your phone. Without this some of the more interesting objects would have passed us by.
Great way to get a feel for Danish history of the period. Allow 90 mins inside.
Thanks to the reviewer who noted that you need a 20kkr coin for the locker and must deposit any bag bigger than 20cm. You do get the coin back!
Don't bother with the coffee shop unless you really must and the toilets are inadequate.

This is an old castle which is now a museum. If you are eager to know about the culture and the lifestyle of the royals in Europe, this is really a great place for you to visit.

On the day I was there someone set off the security alarms which ment everyone had to sit on the grass in the rain for an hour! Inspite of this it was a very interesting visit its a little dark but very interesting.

The Treasury contains the historic Danish Crown Jewels and provided you purchase a camera permit you are able to take photos. The Castle has lots of history on three floors, and the extensive grounds are a peaceful way to pass some time.
