Owner description: The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

“Started off slow, but ended with a bang!”

The line to buy tickets was long and slow. Then they made you put any bags, etc into a locker which was an additional fee, before finally entering the castle. That is when I had to pay an additional $5ish dollars to be able to take photos. They charge for everything! The first few rooms of the castle are neat, but nothing spectacular. It wasn't until the top floor that I was really impressed with the china room and a few other neat rooms that have been perserved for over 300 years. The real attractions were in the basement, the crown jewels and other beautiful jewelery which definitley made the whole trip worthwhile. There is also a lof of other neat things in the basement. The grounds are beautiful too! My 15 month old son was not interested in much of it, but he did enjoy staring at the ceiling most of the time which is actually quite interesting! Our friends had thier 4 and 6 year old daughters who really enjoyed the whole castle.

“Definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

When in Copenhagen a visit to the Rosenborg Castle is a must.
Beautifully displayed room sets of total opulence. The Castle is not too big and manageable to get round in a morning without becoming a chore. Not to be missed.

“This is sweet and well worth the time”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I
t was not too large and tiring as some places you visit on the continent. Very well presented with lots of people to help you with the hotsory. Lots of notices in english to help you understand what is going on. They let you take photographs without flash here which is great.

“Very Interesting Visit”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

My wife and I visited Robenborg Castle when we were in Copenhagen. We were staying close to the castle so it was a short walk for us. We had been by it each day and decided we had to go inside.
The cost is not bad compared to other sites that we had visited in Denmark. There is a charge if you want to take photos but we did not pay this fee. There are a lot of free museums in Copenhagen but this was worth the price. We are also able to put our coats and backpacks in a locker before entering the castle.
We began in the treasury and enjoyed looking at the royal items. Some were spectacular and some were just okay. We met a worker who described some of the more interesting pieces and asked us if we had been in the castle yet. He told us that it would close in 45 minutes so we ran to at least see the throne room. Please be sure to check the times. The castle is open less time that the treasury.
We loved our visit. Not hard to do in a short period of time. There are a lot of stairs so be sure to wear some good walking shoes.
