Owner description: The beautiful 400-year-old castle is situated in central Copenhagen's popular park, The King's Garden. The castle was built by one of the most famous Scandinavian kings, Christian IV. Today, the glory of the past can be experienced through the numerous art treasures of the previous kings and queens. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. The crown jewels and royal regalia sparkle behind the thick walls of the treasury beneath the castle.

We went on a Sunday afternoon. The castle was closed, but the treasury was open & was worth a look. They take the Copenagen card here.

“Ok castle but great treasury”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

The castle is next to a nice park where it would pleasant to spend an hour or 2.

The castle itself is ok but nothing special. That said the hall on the upper floor is pretty magnificent.

The star of the show for me is the treasury beneath the castle, lots of interesting beautiful items in there.

“Don't miss it if you are in Copenhagen...”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

Wonderful repository for Danish crown jewels, furniture, ceramics, china, sculptures and history through the ages... A great experience and well worth the entrance fee. We watched the the changing of the guards (starts here and then they march up to the queen's palace through the streets of Copenhagen - so you can catch the start here at about 11.15 and the change at her palace at noon) - wonderful sights and sounds of military band.
