Owner description: Large marble Baroque church which stood unfinished from 1770 to 1874. It was finally finished in 1894.

This church is popularly known as the marble church and was supposed to be modeled after St. Peter's in Rome. But Frederik V ran out of money and when the project resumed, it was built of limestone. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful church with a dome that offers views of the harbor and the bridge to Sweden.
Across the street is the winter residence of the Royal Family. A changing of the guard takes place daily. There is also a museum and a statue of Frederik V on horseback.

Great exterior and wonderful interiors and you are allowed to walk on the dome. We didn't spend much time inside the church. Its right opposite Amalienborg Palace and should be a stop in your itinerary when you visit the palace.

This is a pretty church in a nice area. It is definitely worth going to see as the whole area is quite historic. Be careful walking through the plaza as there are no crosswalks yet there are some cars passing through occasionally. On the way when walking from Nyhavn to the Little Mermaid Statue.
