There are not many vegetarian options in Nyavn, this one has a grill and salad bar buffet with grilled vegetables, but they don't always fully separate veggies from meat options on the grill. Be careful of the "vegetable" sticks on the grill, they can have meat on them! The salad bar is OK, sometimes it has pasta, sometimes a chickpea salad and you can put together a reasonable meal from the bar. It has some good dressings. The buffet is around KR200 which is not the cheapest in town (see Riz Raz for better vegetarian buffets!) but if you want to experience the Nyvatn atmosphere then this is not a bad choice. Service is friendly enough and they speak english, but they don't really go out of their way to make your evening anything special.

Stopped in here for a snack and a beer on a sunny Sat morning. the beer was good and the snack was very so so, not bad but not great. when i sat down I did not think i needed to ask if they had Wifi, after all i had been in Copenhagen for 3 nights and there is Wifi everywhere, on the buses, trains, eberywhere. I told the waitress and she told me yes, the owner had been told many times but doesnt care. the service and caring in all establishments in Copenhagen is fantastic but this place is a just for the tourists with an owner who doesnt care or understand the power of social networking. People expect that when they pay 65 DKK for a beer that there will be free Wifi. the disspointing thing, they do in fact have Wifi but refuse to give out the password. This place is surely "a pass"

A small and cosy restaurant on the waterfront that tempted us in on a cold and rainy February evening.
We wishwe had walked past.
They offered a buffet grill menu for 199 DK or around £25
We were disappointed!
Out back was a spread of dried up and cold steak, burgers and chicken wings with some wrinkled new potatoes and French fries. When we complained they did cook some fresh for us.
There were salads to go with it but we still found it a poor value meal. Copenhagen is on the dear side but this was still poor quality food for the price.
A bottle of house wine was £28.
The surroundings themselves were pleasant enough and as mentioned warm and cosy.

Little spot with the kitchen at the back so you can see the cooks at work. Good choice of variable menues. Short wine list but one is a special offer. Service is excellent, very professional. You might want to book in busy times...

Of course we wanted to dine in one of the trendy eating spots right by the water in Copenhagen, but which one would we choose? They all looked great with the outside tables and chairs, and strolling musicians walking among the tourists. We chose this Ved Kajen because their posted menu suggested that they had a "two plate" special which came with an all-you-can-eat salad set at one price. We know that everything is expensive in Copenhagen, and this is especially true in this tourist area by the water, but the price seemed fair. It was certainly more than fair. The salmon dinner which was delivered was some of the best fish we have EVER eaten. We would expect the Danes to know to fix fish, and they do. The gal who waited on us was a delight, not only because she spoke great English, but because she had helped us make the dinner decision which turned out to be so very good. We certainly recommend this spot again.
