“Wondeful Copenhagen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2010

Short flight from Stansted Airport (an hour and a half) took the train from the airport to our hotel (10 minute journey) approx 7 minute walk from station to Wakeup Copenhagen, a clean modern hotel. Check in wasnt traumatic, the bedrooms small but spotless and very comfortable. Great location for the main square, lots of shops, bars and restaurants and easy to see the sights Copenhagen has to offer.

Would highly recommend The Laundromat Cafe which has a good selection of food and beverages. We stumbled on it trying to find somewhere to eat and have no complaints, nice staff, great atmosphere and great chef.

The hotel is brand new, I loved the room and free wi-fi - the interior is great all in all. The location is also very convenient. What our group didn't like was the general mamager who was not flexible at all. No staff smiled or showed a truely happy face. I also didn't like the expensive lockers (20 DKK per locker if you want to leave the luggage there). Breakfast is the same everyday.

Thanks very much for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't find our staff helpfull. It is the hotel policy to be friendly and polite. Now, I do not know what this particular episode is regarding, but it is important to bear in mind that Wakeup is a 2 star budget hotel and therefore offer limited service. In order to keep our rates low, we have to save somewhere and this is done by limiting the number of staff. On the other hand, we do offer free Internet and an Internet cafe, so guests can seek information online at any time free of charge.
Another part of being a budget hotel is charging for extra services. Only the room and Internet is included in the roomrate. If you wish to have breakfast, you pay for it, if you wish to make your booking by phone, you pay a fee and if you wish to store your luggage, you pay for it too. This way you're not charged for anything you don't use.
I hope my explanations make the concept clear and I'm happy to see that you would recommend Wakeup.

Kind Regards,
WAKEUP COPENHAGEN

This is a budget hotel, but you get a lot for your money. Pros: Clean room, quiet, good service, good shower, nice plasma tv and decent breakfast. Also free internet terminals and WIFI. Cons: Small room, about 10-15 walk from city centre and no toaster!

Overall, highly recommended and I would stay here again.

I stayed here recently for a long weekend. The hotel was a little hard to fine as the maps show it on a corner, but it is not, the road down to the hotel is still under construction, it is in a very new area. I would have preferred to stay a little closer in town. The hotel is brand new so reception area is all very nice, there is also free computers with internet in the reception. I did not have the breakfast there, but there was snacks you could buy from reception. The rooms are small but for one traveller it is perfect, only one small pillow was a little uncomfortable, but the single bed was large. If i went back to Copenhagen i would be happy to stay here again.

I stayed there for a business trip. The hotel is very economical, and I really would have to think very hard to find anything negative - OK, maybe the breakfast is rather basic - perhaps I wouldn't dish out the money for it, but even the not that expensive either.
My room was basic, but brand new. Free Internet (WIFI) is provided throughout the hotel. Will definitely stay there again!

This is such a great hotel.
The staff is nice and the breakfast is plentiful and really great. Maybe we were the only people on the top floor - we didn't hear a peep neither day nor night. Very quiet indeed.
On weekdays and not-so-busy weekends this is the best deal in Copenhagen.
The prices tend to rise quite a bit on Christmas for example.

Other people have written that the area around the hotel is deserted at night. This might still be true, even though buildings and other hotels are popping up all around. This is not a dangerous neighborhood, though, so I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't feel unsafe once during my stay!

Will come back soon!

Does the job if you just want to crash out at a sensible price, but has no soul, no cosy comforts, no atmosphere, and no room to swing a cat, let alone store anything. It's like being in a Ikea wardrobe with Ryan Air service. Space age shower, which takes up most of the room, is best feature. No landline phones in hotel, no spare pillows, cos it doesn't fit the concept! and one small pillow each made sleeping very uncomfortable. Internet connections everywhere, probably in the toilet too. If you just want to crash out cheaply and are under 30, you'll probably love it, If you're over 50 and want a proper hotel, you'll hate it. If you're staying for more than 2 nights, pay extra for a larger room. Breakfast is good.
