“Slow service, but excellent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

We went there on a whim, just looking for a place to eat. The menu looked ok and we went in. The atmosphere was nothing to talk about and the service was a bit slow, but the food was great. The quality, the taste and the presentation were worth any excellent place I have been in the States. I had mussels with tiger shrimp and baked cod appetizers as well as the Amadeus casserole (pork stew with potatoes) and they were simply great. Adding some Tuborg Classic and Leffe Blond to pair did the job.

“Ideal for lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2012

Stumbled across after a visit to Royal palaces and so glad we did.

Rather unassuming on approach - but look through the window and see the pastries and breads in the shop!

We took a place in the courtyard as a warm day, but the indoor area looked clean and up to the job.

You have to try the Smørrebrød - went for 3 of them (just managed them - 2 is enough!). Very well presented with toppings aplenty! Has to be the herring, but also try the melt in your mouth roast pork with crackling!

Staff were friendly (but not overly) and efficient - which is ideal

So make a note of the location and visit!

“Fantastic Place for Smørrebrød”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2012

If you're in Copenhagen then you have to try smørrebrød (open faced sandwiches). This place had fantastic service and the food was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend swinging by for lunch or dinner. I travelled through Europe for 4 weeks and this is the only place I'm leaving a review for as it stood out as a great place to stay.

“great place, memorable lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2012

Hi,

I never really pay attention to TA restaurant reviews as they never work for me being a subjective culinary preferences of the members. This is a one more RARE exception!!!
I stumbled on Amadeus by serendipity and picked it as a place for lunch before i read the TA reviews on this place. The prime point in my case was a LOCATION, in the closest vicinity to Amelienborg Palace and Nyhavn.

1/ Location. Just few steps from Nyhavn. Store Kongensgade 62, 1264 Copenhagen.
Look for the green awning on the ground floor.
2/ Interior. Rather bleak and not very interesting, paper covers on the tables, simple chairs...nothing impressive ...until you have your food in front of you!!!!
3/ Service. Very prompt, friendly and efficient even in the busiest hours of Saturday night.
Reservation is a MUST especially if you fancy to eat at 7-9 pm on weekend, earlier in the day it is OK just to drop by.
5/ Total value for money in the most expensive Copenhagen, absolute bargain for the food and drinks quality. Some in-house specialties are absolute MUST to try including their famous brunch (Scramble eggs with grilled beef sausages and roasted bacon, 2 different sorts of cheese, serrano ham, fresh fruit, pancake with maple syrup, yoghurt with fruit coulis, smoked salmon with cream cheese. 1 glass of juice, coffee/tea.
109, - with champagne 145,-) and Danish smørrebrød served on homemade rye bread from their own bakery:
1 piece 65,-
3 pieces (only for 1 person) 149,-
3 pieces and 1 snaps (only for 1 person) 169,-
Tomato soup is a must-try. but beware... portions are HEARTY....lol.
6/ We were HUGELY satisfied and highly recommend the place to the future visitors.
7/ I hope you`ll enjoy the place as must as we did.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2012

We hadn't planned to eat here but the place we wanted to go to was shut and I am really glad it was! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was great it came very quickly. There were a lot of people here both tourists and locals which shows that its a good place, I would go back!
