We ate here after a day of hiking and appreciated the food, the price, and the low-key atmosphere. We would definitely eat here again if we had the opportunity. The evening we were in Stege (a weeknight), this was the only resturant there that was crowded - Danes know good value when they find it! As packed as it was, the staff still did a great job, and served hot, fresh, food without undue delay. In addition to the meat selections (you pick your own from their butcher case and they cook it to order), there is a surprisingly good range of beer and wine, and their warm meat sandwiches - also an excellent value - are very tasty and satisfying. A large roast beef sandwich (more than ample as a meal), two beers, and just over a pound of veal cooked to order came to 165 Danish Kr. - a little under thirty dollars. They offer desserts which looked to be very well-prepared and popular, but we were too full! This would be a great place to bring kids, and indeed there were many families enjoying themselves the night we ate there. Parking is free and available within a block or two. I didn't give this restaurant five stars only because I felt the food was solidly good, but not amazing/gourmet. Then again, amazing food (at least in Denmark) would probably cost ten times as much.
