This attraction includes a walk along the cliff tops of the chalk cliffs of Mons as well as many, many steps down to the beach. There are 620 steps back up to the top. Walking along the beach is difficult as the beach is all rocks - not pebbles but medium sized rocks. But the view is well worth the difficulty of the walk.

There is a nominal (25 d.k.) fee to park at the main trailheads, which is also where the museum is, but it was worth the parking fee to have clean resrooms and a small playground and picnic tables. We hiked up to the top of the cliffs first, which invoves a roughly 500-step staircase as well as some steep hiking along the way. Then we took another (different, but still around 500 steps) staircase down to the beach and walked for about a mile on the (rocky) narrow beach, then climbed stairs (yes another 500 steps!) to where the parking lot is. Besides the opportunity to see the same cliffs from both above and below, the amount and variety of plant life was impressive. We saw primitive plants and mosses, flowers, old growth trees that had so much character they reminded us of those old Disney trees that are always coming to life in cartoon movies, massive trees whose roots were cracking the sheer face of the cliffs, and trees upended by rockslides. The area is a natural wonderland. Apparently the high level of limestone in the soil is ideal for many plants. We didn't try to make any speed records, and there are places to rest along the way, but we enjoyed every minute of the (hours) we spent at Mons Klint. We skipped the museum because we did not want to spend the time or money for it, but there were (English language) maps and brochures avilaible near the picnic tables. All the trails were well marked with numbers - we hiked # 4, then down to the beach, along the beach and back up again. Danish children were scampering up the stairs, making us feel old for having to walk more slowly, but even if we could have gone faster, I would not have wanted to miss the plant life that is at least as inspiring as the cliffs. We also drove to (and hiked at) the flower preserve southwest of the cliffs which I would highly recommend as well (no fee for parking there, but no restrooms either).

Mons Geocenter is an interesting museum. It is lovely to take a walk along the beach at Mons Klint as the nature is very speciel. It can though be dangerous. In 2007, there was a bit of the cliff that fell down.

The chalk cliffs are most impressive whether you watch them from the top rim or from the beach below.

This is really one of the most amazing places I have EVER been to (and I have been to quite a few). The dramatics of the landscape, the clearness of the water and the dramatic skies all makes up for a terrific outing. The walk down the stairs, 474 steps, is tough for some, naturally, but there is benches along the way if you just want to stop and take a break. Once down walk around and enjoy to be there. This is truly extraordinary.
