Spent a couple of nights in the Scandic Olympic hotel during a recent business trip to Esbjerg in Denmark.
I've stayed there a few times now and I don't know whether they are going through a refurbishment or whether the more well appointed and fresher rooms are on the higher floors but I had a room on the 6th floor this time (there are only 7) and it was very nice and had obviously been recently decorated. Previous times I've likened my room to not much better than a youth hostel dorm (without having to share of course).
Anyway you can tell whether you are on a good floor by the quality of the carpet, as I found out when I stopped at a couple of lower floors in the elevator.
I never ate in the somewhat sterile atmosphere of the restaurant downstairs, but a colleague of mine enthused that he had had one of the best meals he had ever eaten (Coq Au Vin) the previous night in that very same place. Jamie Oliver seems also to have some influence on the catering offerings within the hotel as there are many flyers dotted around the place with his mug shot. The rest was in Danish so I am decucing he has developed the menu and not the colour of the walls.
It's centrally located also both for business and pleasure so all in all a good hotel which is made better when you get a very good room if that makes sense.
