You need to see this place to believe it, even if you have not got children and you find yourself in Denmark pop along and see it. Sure its for the kids but aren't we all kids at heart. Good food and drinks to be found and wonderful rides. My advice is book online its cheaper and with the fact its 10mins walk from Billund Airport its easy for adults and families alike.

I took my 3 year old son to Legoland on a Friday in late September - so we were spared the long waits for rides suggested by the huge queuing areas beside some of the attractions.

We had a fantastic time. There was lots to do - and look at. However if your children are shorter than 90cm, then their activities will be limited as this was the height restriction for many of the rides. The 'wilder' attractions require children to be even taller - for instance 100cm for The Dragon roller coaster, or 120cm for the Ice Pilots School.

Near the entrance is Miniland - which are really fun Lego recreations of landmarks from across Denmark, Europe and even Kennedy Space Center and Beverley Hills. There's also a mini safari drive past Lego animals, or a boat trip to look at iconic buildings like Capitol Hill or the Acropolis. Many people seemed to dash past this area on their way to the rides - but it is worth spending some time here as there is a lot to see and some button pushing to make things happen.

The 4d films are really good - look for billboards around the park giving their times, although my son thought the one we watched was a little loud. The Atlantis by SeaWorld aquarium is interesting - with sharks and tropical fish swimming around Lego divers. If you like other wildlife, then the Penguins in PolarLand are worth a look - although the staff seem to do the feeding time talk in only Danish with a second later in the day in English/German.

My biggest criticism is the catering. It rained on the day we went - yet there was very few places to get something to eat inside, as most of the outlets were just kiosks. Food prices were also - unsurprisingly - high.

However the Legoland staff were enthusiastic and really engaged with children - and we really enjoyed our day.

My wife and I are two 60 year olds and our children are grown up but we still visited the original Legoland together. Undoubtedly, the theme park is aimed at young children but we still had a thoroughly enjoyable time - it would probably have been even more fun if we had had young kids with us!! We went in June so it was not too busy and the queues were, therefore, very short or non-existant; I'm not sure I would like to go there during the peak season as I'm very impatient in queues. My only criticism relates to the catering - the food was basic and "thrown" together and the tables/chairs in the eating areas would have benefitted from being cleared/cleaned more often.

...stay for two days, so you don't get rushed...the Polar flight School we liked most. Also check out the fire fighting drill for real family fun. Don't forget to bring your wet suits if you are daring enough to go for the pirate boat tour, which is great fun.
