We stayed at Lalandia as part of a Legoland Holiday and were really pleased with our stay. The whole place is a bit like a Centre parcs in the UK but smaller in size. Firstly, it is so easy to get to from Billund airport by taxi and you can go and use the facilities even if you arrive before the 3pm check-in time. Legoland is a 5 minute walk from the Lalandia centre.
Once you check in (you go directly to your cabin and use the code given to you via email before you arrive), you get a wristband each which gives you access to the Aquadome and the play area bit called Monky Tonky. Basically there is the main centre which has the service centre, shops, restaurants, Aquadome, play area, bowling, etc etc and then lots of cabins in quite a large area. The whole place is spotlessly clean. There is even a field of very cute goats that you can go in and pet. The staff in the service centre are really nice and all speak excellent English. The staff in the restaurants are a little hands off - customer service isn't exceptional but perfectly good.
There is a little train which runs every 30 mins (but oddly only Thurs - Sunday) and takes you to near your cabin (there are no cars allowed on this central road), or if you have a car, there is another entrance you can use depending on where your cabin is.
TIP - As we didn't have a car, we asked to have a cabin as near to the centre as possible and they kindly did put us in the Birkestein area. It was 5-10 mins walk to the centre which was absolutely fine.
We booked a Classic 4 cabin (as there are only 3 of us) and it was absolutely super. Spotlessly clean, very nicely designed and fully kitted out with lots of kitchen equipment, oven, fridge, freezer, microwave etc. We didn't have a double bed in our bedroom as advertised but 2 singles pushed together so no big problem. The cabins are really well insulated so retain the heat very well. There is plenty of green space between you and the next cabin and there are lots of mini play parks dotted about for the kids. Very family orientated. As it is near to the airport there is plane noise but just take ear plugs.
TIP - The blinds are quite thin so take a black-out blind for little kids.
You will need to take bed linen and towels with you or you can hire them there. Also you get one toilet roll and a few dishwasher tablets. Everything else you can get from their supermarket (or another in the area). I was surprised with how well their supermarket was stocked - very good variety but as expected quite pricey (Denmark is more expensive than the UK in terms of food and drink but being in a resort increased this too).
This was great fun! It was pretty busy on all the days we were there (Sunday pm was a lot quieter though). There are several kids pools, wave machines, rapids (lovely gentle flowing 'river' where you can sit back and relax on a ring) and lots of flumes. There are 4 flumes you go down on a sleeping bag type thing which are good fun with a blinking steep drop at the end! Then there are 1 person and 2 person rides which are good fun and exciting. Then there is the ride I will never do again!!!! The 4 person ride has a MASSIVE steep drop where you think you are going to crash head first to earth. We did it once but never again - there were plenty of thrill seekers going again and again on it - very brave.
TIP: The queuing system is basically you wait at the end of the ride and when someone comes down the flume, they should hand the ring to the person waiting. Queues moved pretty quickly.
There is also a kids water area which has loads of water guns, spraying machines, mini flumes etc and was loved by our 6 year old. An outdoor Jacuzzi is also really nice. I found the temperature in the Aquadome fine - we got chilly at one point but if you can just warm up in the Jacuzzi and do a few flumes to get the blood pumping!
As with all soft play places the world over, they are hell on earth for adults but the kids love them. Our 6 year old wasn't too impressed with it as I think it is geared to slightly younger kids. I am sure if she had a little pal with her she would have been fine.
There are 4 restaurants in the main centre and it seemed as though a lot of them were only open at the weekend so do check. I couldn't be bothered to cook in the cabin so off we went! We ate at il Bambino which is an all you can eat buffet. The price is about £25 per adult and £10 per child for all you can eat. You pay in advance when you arrive. I was dreading it slightly wondering what sort of choice there would be but it was pretty good! There is a range of cheeses, meats, pate, breads, salads for starters and then for mains there was lots of very nicely cooked roast meats, veg, lasagne, pasta, pizza, roast salmon etc. Not fine dining but decent tasty food and you could go back up as often as you liked. For kids there is a salad bar with raw veg, pizza, sausages, spaghetti but they can have anything from the grown ups food too - not limited to the children's food.
Pudding is great for those with a sweet tooth - 8 flavours of ice cream, lots of fresh fruit, a chocolate fountain, tiramisu, toppings, sprinkles etc!!! Worth reminding kids to only take what they can manage to avoid wastage as to a 6 year old it is all rather tempting! We didn't eat at the other restaurants so can't comment on them.
The Centre is a little odd with its false starry sky ceiling but it is pretty calm and relaxing. They also do singing and live music shows for children and families in the central area. We didn't venture in to Billund itself at all as we were all pretty exhausted after Legoladn and Aquadome all day long so eating at the Centre was convenient.
In summary, we really enjoyed our time here and would certainly return - probably with friends next time.
