The food comes to the table as small dishes in tapas style, which helps to provide a good interaction and informal atmosphere. OUR CONCEPT Since we opened in 2015 we have developed a 80/20 concept. This means that 80% of food is green, and 20% are eg lamb, pork, venison, fish / seafood or poultry. Whether it is vegetables or meat you eat at FREDERIKSGADE 42, we will always serve a produce that is grown properly, or where animal welfare is high.

Attended for dinner with 2 friends and opted for a variety of food plates which was 90% vegetarian. The food was delicious and all meals came with a very detailed description by the chef Soren. Everything was cooked to perfection and nothing could be faulted. The selection of wine and beer matched our meals and complemented the spices and products used. The restaurant itself is a very cosy and relaxed due to a very tasteful decor. Not the cheapest but worth the money and highly recommended.

The owner is extremely nice and accommodating! This was my second visit and we both had the 5 course menu. Still an innovative kitchen and the service is excellent - I highly recommend this restaurant as it's one of the best in Aarhus, in my opinion.

Maybe not the best place to visit with children but normally every restaurant can fix something for little ones (as simple as some olives bread or tomatoes). We had to hurry because the table outside (outer terrace)was spoken for one hour later. We went for the 6 plates menu and as the waitress suggested we left the empty plates to share the food with our kids (because there wasn’t anything for them on the menu and tgey could eat with us). Mystiriously the reservation for our table was cancelled. (Or maybe it had to do with us spending more than 1000DKK for 2 people!). First 2 plates were excellent. But after that we expected a flavour and bite change. But again soft food with a lot of sauce. Also the last 2 little plates didn’t have a bite. Since the food had nothing to do with what a 5 and 6 year old like. The waitress had seen it but was in no way trying to make a suggestion to get some bread or anything. we left with 2 very hungry kids and could eat more ourselves as well! Stopped by the pizza guy 200 m further up the road.

They made us so welcome on our first night in Aarhus. The quirky fusion of new Nordic and somewhat Asian done with 80% non meat, and a sharing concept were all spot on. Loved every course, even the ones we thought may not be to our taste from the 7 course set menu. Great selections of wines paired with food, fun and friendly staff, always attentive.
We will be back with friends.

Delicious, interesting food, which was beautifully presented and served with care and attention. Also a lot of emphasis on local produce.
