Den Gamle By is a great place to find out more of Denmark's history, the vibrant buildings portray a great representation of that era, with many helpful people to explain everything's purpose. Absolutely visit if planning a trip to Northern Denmark.

Certainly one of the most interesting attractions in Aarhus. The historic building-while being fake- are attractive.

The town is lovely, and a good look into how Danes used to live. I recommend the little bakery towards the back.

Otherwise the dining options are once again limited, and unfortunately don't match the setting at all. Hotdogs seem to be one of the most popular forms of Danish cuisine.

The attraction is fun to visit in both winter and summer, however be ware it's almost always rainy so take an umbrella.

For Aarhus the attraction gets a 5 out of 5, but taking Europe as a whole this attraction is average or less.

Den Gamle By is the original open-air "living" museum and does it brilliantly. Eighty years of practice and experience, together with several hundred buildings, masses of arefacts and some excellent interpretative techniques make this probably the best museum in Europe. It makes history very interesting and our two relentlessly jaded and bored teenagers loved it.
As a tip, buy the proper guidebook which provides a good description of every building.
Superb.

Good place to take the children to see old toys, old houses moved brick by brick over the last 100 years. Quite unique. Very nice around christmas when lots of christmas related activities take place, but open all year round with something to see. Kids go free, so not that expensive for a day out. Also very reasonable prices in shops etc.

Cosy to stroll around among the old buildings and surroundings. The new area from the 70-ties that are being built is a stroke of genius!
