Visiting this open air museum for the first time in 20-25 years was a very pleasant surprise. It has improved a lot; more old buildings than ever (75 plus and more is being added as I am writing this). All at high quality standards. You can not only see houses from the outside but also most of them from the inside. To my surprise, they had a very large number of displays, where a craftsman or the like tells you about, how a certain job was carried out 75 or a 100 years ago. Very interesting place for people at all ages! We spend 3 hours there and could easily had spend more. There is a reason why this place got 3 Michelin stars!
On a practical note: you can bring food/drinks for eating inside if you wish; they have a couple of buildings, where you can sit down and eat it. You can also leave it in the car and go out and pick it up later (remember your tickets to get back in though). If you are a larger group you should consider to book a tour guide in advance. Special thing for christmas is on every year.
