“Good, clean and basic hotel.”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

This hotel deserves better than 3 stars but less than 4 stars, that's the limitation of a 5 star system :)

It's basic and clean, with comfortable (though narrow) beds, and extremely small rooms. I wouldn't want to stay here for more than 2 or 3 nights, but up to that it's fine.

The bathroom is poorly designed but adequate.

The heating system is eccentric, though given time it works (the heat is introduced into the room through a grill in the bedroom ceiling). There is no heating at all in the bathroom, so top tip in the winter, leave your bathroom door open overnight so some heat gets in there to warm your morning ablutions :)

My room was reasonably quiet, though on the second morning I was woken by trolleys being wheeled through the courtyard into the hotel at 5.30 in the morning.

Breakfast was poor, avoid.

Golly, with all the above comments, why do I want to give this hotel more than 3 stars? Answer - Because it's cheap, clean and ideally situated in the centre of Aarhus.

If you need a bed in the city center of Aarhus this is a good option. The room is very small and only suited for one person really. Nice with the free wifi. Great price if you only want a place to sleep.

Room Tip: The entrance to the hotel is not by the river, dont get fooled by the signs.

I stayed at the Cabinn Aarhus for one night as I had business in the town. The GPS on my HTC phone made a real mess of finding the place, but I did eventually and chose to park outside the theatre in front of the hotel. As written elsewhere, the rooms are tiny (mine was the Economy version, booked via trivago) but it was clean and warm and served it's purpose.I was on the 3rd floor and the free wifi worked perfectly. Breakfast for 70 kr. was OK and in fact the whole thing was an example of getting what you pay for. But - one person per Economy room, more would be really tight!
Aarhus is a lovely town and there are tons of cafe's and restaurants nearby for dinner.

I stayed in the hotel for two nights in late January 2013. Even though I had lived in Aarhus for four months several years ago, I had trouble finding the hotel. The room was very small and sparsely furnished, the towels were unusually small; the toiletries were almost non-existent; and the room was not well cleaned either when I arrived or after my first night there. The hotel lobby was also grimy (and the lavatory in the lobby was filthy), which makes me think the hotel needs to beef up its cleaning staff a good deal. On the more positive side, the room was warm, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was quite good, especially the coffee, which was excellent. I was staying at the hotel in connection with a conference, but I would not stay there in the future if I were coming back to Aarhus on my own.

the main reason I would choose this hotel again is the position, very central, and free wifi included.
otherwise, you get what you pay: the rooms are very small, and didn't always find the staff very friendly.
but if you travel for work, you don't need anything else than good position, internet and breakfast, and therefore this hotel is a good value for money.

Room Tip: remember to choose a room with breakfast included, which is on a nice top floor with a good view on...

There is a line from a Roger Miller song - "An eight by twelve four bit room". Well, that's it. Our room was approximately 8 X 12 feet. This was new construction, mind you, not some quaint hundreds year old building. It was well designed for the most part, with plenty of storage. The bathroom, while also well designed, was about twice the size of an aircraft bathroom. We were in Europe for a month and elsewhere did not encounter rooms this small. While we understand that many European hotel rooms are small, there is no excuse for one being this tiny.
The biggest design flaw of the Cabinn is that you can't regular the termerature in your room. There was a festival going on when we were there, with ruckus along the adjacent canal until four AM. It was too hot if we closed the windows and too noisy to sleep if we opened them. The Cabinn was our one and only bad hotel experience in a month's worth of traveling.

Room Tip: Stay here only if your alternative is sleeping in the street. If you do stay here try to get a room...

This was my first stay in a CABINN hotel. Their business idea is to offer small rooms the size of a ferry cabin. I was lucky, and got a standard room for 4 persons as a single room, so the room was big enough for me. But the bed as very narrow, can't be more than 70 cm wide. If you are a midget, or suffering from anorexia, it will probably feel all right. If you are 4 persons (or have a smaller room for 2 persons) the room will feel very cramped, with its bunk beds. The shower is quite an experience, plenty of water to wash your hair (if you, most unlikely, manage to get any of the provided shampoo out, without scissors), while the rest of your body will be "glued" to the shower curtain. On the positive side: Free WiFi in the rooms, and it works. Breakfast is not included in the room price, but they tell you when you book. If you want and pay for breakfast, you should know that is very basic and cold only, not an egg in sight, in any shape or form. The receptionist was very friendly (as receptionists normally are in Denmark). As the hotel is cheap, it is popular with youth groups, thus it can be quite noisy. The best thing about it is its very central location, near the main square with the cathedral and theatre. The entrance was not easy to find though.
