“Very good choice”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

A very nice hotel, in a very convenient central district of Aalborg. Within 5-10 minutes walking distance you can reach several central cafes and restaurants. Car parking within the hotel can be a slight problem, as the parking lots are very narrow. I stayed in a very clean and big room, with a comfortable bed (maybe little softer that I actually like it). The bathroom was medium sized, but everything (at least) a business traveler would need was provided. Hot water was available at all weird times I tried to wash myself. As other people mentioned, the rooms get a little bit noisy, as there seems to be no proper insulation. However, I should say that it was actually not that disturbing. One of the greatest advantages is the breakfast buffet - big variety of many different stuff, for everyone to be satisfied, and it starts very early in the morning (6.30am). The breakfast lounge was actually overcrowded, as many business travelers stay there and leave in the morning - but that was not a problem at all. Finally, I should not forget to mention about the very helpful and smiling staff of the reception, who were ready to provide any information needed.

I recently stayed here whilst on a business trip and whilst I can highly recommend the staff (esp the lady in the piano bar) and the breakfasts, the rooms are starting to look a bit tired. In addition, there's no air con in the rooms so you will need to leave the window open during the night and then you'll get (from my 3 night, midweek experience) the delights of drinkers in the bars opposite until the early morning and at least 1 guy a night in a car or motorbike who chooses to rev his engine to an ear shattering volume just for giggles.

A shame as its otherwise a decent hotel in a good location

This Hotel Limfjorden (rated 4 stars) is not at normal Radisson standard found in bigger cities and resorts, but it is well located in the center of Aalborg by the harbor/fjord.

Inside the hotel is a bit old fashioned, but at least this classic appearance is better than the clumsy 1980-style facelift from the outside.

Rooms are quite small, but well equipped. Bed is good and bathroom new.

I had a good view towards the harbor. To the other side you have the amusement street Jomfru Ane Gade close to. Can be advantage/disadvantage.

Breakfast is as expected for a four star hotel, scrambled egg, bacon etc. and a good selection of Danish and fresh fruit. But the coffee! Awful! It is self made from a machine using just powder. The modern coffee wave hasn’t reached Aalborg.

Service is good and very helpful and with a positive attitude, though can a bit understaff at peak times.

In essence there is nothing really wrong with this hotel. Ok, some of the furniture looks well used and should be replaced and the whole hotel seems in need of a (little) update, but it is a nice hotel with decent size rooms and ample amenities.

There are however two really big problems. The first is that the rooms have no airconditioning. In the summer this means the rooms are very warm, which makes them really uncomfortable. So: why not open a window? That’s when we come to the second big problem: the hotel is situated smack bang in the middle of a very popular nightlife district. We stayed at the hotel on a saturday night and the noise (not just the normal murmur, but also the shouting of proud Danes that want the world to know they are very drunk) kept going until 6 in the morning.

Maybe the place is less noisy on weekdays, but the bars seem to be in business 7 days a week, so I doubt that it will ever be noise-free.

In the end we didn't sleep until about 7 in the morning, which left very little time until checkout.

So: if you're in town to experience the nightlife this is exactly the hotel for you. However: if you want to sleep, look for another hotel.

Room Tip: If you have no other options and want to sleep, stay away from the rooms that look out over the stre...

Radisson needs to put some money in this one big time! Location is right in old town, the staff is very friendly and try there hardest, breakfast is great. Now lets talk about the rooms. Beds are old and worn out, there was no electric plug on either side of the bed, since I have to use a CPAP machine to breath at night it posed a problem, the front desk girl was very helpful and found me an extension cord to use for the night. With no A/C tried to sleep with window open, noise from the street below made it impossible. Just not what you expect when you book with Radisson Blu. This is maybe a three star (but there are two gentlemens clubs within three hundred meters) hotel at best and you can imagine the caliber of people in the area.

I stayed for one night before a morning flight. It is in a convenient location a short taxi ride from both the train station and the airport. The bed was very comfortable. The room was warm, but opening the windows helped. I had a room on the river side which had a nice view. Across the street are a couple of strip joints so it's not a perfectly family friendly neighbourhood however a couple of blocks away is the old part of the city, shopping and plenty of restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river may have street noise if the windows are open, but the view is really nice on...

This Radisson is very average, nothing special and it is pretty old right now. The location is everything about this hotel. Honestly, nothing to much to say. It is ok, clean rooms and ok service. I can be a good think to choose a room in the back of the hotel to avoid noise from the party street number one!

Room Tip: Rooms in the back, not towards the main street!
