“One of the best places in Denmark”
Reviewed May 6, 2012 via mobile

Have had great food here several times. If you are in Odense and like to have local Danish food this is one of the best places to try! Situated in very old buildings nearby Den Fynske Landsby

“For a real FYNSK experience and excellent food”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

A great place to introduce visiting friends or business relations to some of the best local food. The stylish restaurant and well trained staff go hand in hand. Their home-baked bread is famous, as well as the great variety of vegetables. Enjoy!

“Wow”
Reviewed December 14, 2011

This restaurant is a bit off the beaten track and appears to be located within an open-air museum of sorts. The building looks (and probably is) quite old and very charming.
The food is exceptionally good. When we went, they were offering their Christmas buffet. I've eaten a lot of Christmas buffets in my life - this one tops everything. The food was exquisite and the presentation was beautiful. The service was very attentive and although the prices are steep - they are actually no more expensive than lesser lights in the city center.

“Excellent restaurant in a wonderful setting”
Reviewed August 25, 2011

We had a wonderful dinner at Sortebro Kro with our friends. We chose the menu which was excellent - especially the first course, hake and celery, was out of this world, but everything was top quality. Several extra mini-courses were added to the menu.
The setting is wonderful, and the service as excellent, albeit at times maybe slightly overwhelming.
Their wines are relatively expensive compared with the price of the menu, but all in all the price of the meal was reasonable in view of the outstanding quality.

“A perfect meal”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

The restaurant is in a historic inn just outside the open air museum. A beautiful old half-timbered building, with bare wooden floors in the dining room and traditional furniture, crisp white tablecloths and napkins. The Danes have a wonderful ability to make the most formal settings warm and comfortable - there were children eating at table and family groups in jeans and t-shirts, and the staff were charming, but this is modern formal dining at its best. We had a glass of champagne to start with, and were offered wonderful amuse-bouches to go with it. One of us had the sweetbread (mouth-wateringly tender although slightly over-salted) and the rest had the prawn and brill salad with shavings of celeriac and fresh herbs from the cottage gardens in the museum as starters. Then we had the venison and the fish (grilled mullet) which were excellent but the prawn and brill salad was the star and I will remember the multiple flavours and the fresh herbs for a long time. A shared pudding then fresh mint tea and coffee to finish. Each course was brought out and presented by the chef who had made it which was charming, and they stayed to discuss their dishes (in perfect English, no less!) with us. they will choose a different glass of wine with each course if you wish but we decided to have a bottle of sauvignon blanc which was very good and was one of the wines which they recommend with their fish course.
The locals sourly say that the Michelin inspectors won't leave Copenhagen and ignore excellent cooking elsewhere in the country. But cooking as good as this doesn't need stars - it speaks for itself.
