Owner description: Odense ZOO has been elected the best zoo in Europe. We prioritize the well-being of the animals and try to give the animals as natural surroundings within their cages as possible, to increase the quality of their life as well as to give our visitors the experience of seeing the animals as close to their natural invironments as possible.

“Dirty - get your worst shoes on”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

The Zoo offers strange experience. This is not a big city park, feels more like a private property..not adequately supported.
First, it is extremely dirty both in the roads and at the animals places. From that day on, i will definitely pay attention to how the other parks keep the animal zones clean and highly appreciate this. And recommend to the park owners to pay attention to this, too. Dirty animals look sad.
Property map offers short info on activities not showing where they will take place. It's mostly in Danish.
Decoration is at least..inappropriate. While the whole world strives to make it a part of a natural habitat, they would put a "broken"car next to the tiger cage...was it a symbol of dangerous hunting human activity?? No ideas.
The food in the park is less then uneatable. Even if you're coping somehow sometimes with McDonald stuff you most probably will be disappointed in these 'burgers' they decided for some reason to warm up together with fresh cucumbers... take care of you, eat somewhere else before and after you visit the park.
Unclear paths might be confusing so come in advance for the activities.
What concerns the aquarium, has achieved our best compliments. Interesting. The manatees are touchy. Do not miss the underwater observation and go till the end of the aquarium hall, then turn right and get down. Do not get stressed with the hot and humid air, there will be cool down there and everywhere further, too.
Down there look for a door and push the button: there are more halls with overhead aquarium and pinguins.
Tiger is the largest one I've seen. Just sadly kept, dirty and smelling..Lions, mini pigs, lamas, camels, sea lions and seals, monkeys, coaties.. giraffes feeding is well worth it for kids, feeding from hand is absolutely safe and great experience for kids.
Not everywhere acceptable for the wheelchairs, otherwise if you choose clockwards direction from the main entrance till the end and move the whole way back then: there is a large stair before you approach exit.

“A great day out”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

We got to the zoo by river boat, it was a very pleasant way to arrive. The zoo itself is well appointed with many different species, most of which can be seen easily (not hiding out of sight).
They have lions and monkeys galore. Definitely a must do on a visit to Odense.

“I love this Zoo”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

This zoo is the cutest! It was a great and funny place to visit with friends.
The two best attraction are the Penguins and the Tropical Animals. You feel like in the animal's habitat.
Be prepared for a full day, and repeat the visit. I bought the "season ticket" and spent many afternoons there.

“Great family attraction”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

The Odense ZOO has a wide range of different animal from all over the world grouped nicely into different themes. Very nice areas for lions and tigers and a great section for traveling through South America. Great garden and activities especially for families. The ZOO can be visited all year.
