We have been in Skyros the first week of June, a very nice island, and a very green one. We stayed there for four days, while sailing with friends from Greece (not our first time in Greece). We were recommended to dinne at Almyra restaurant, and it prooved to be an excellent choice. Tow of us had spaggeti with lobster, which was delicious, and the rest had goat in lemon sauce which was served with freshly cut fried potatoes, not very common! I tasted it and it was realy breathtaking! Also, among the starters list, the "spicy cheesy dip" , the aubergine salad, and the marinated small fish are a must!
Overall, very good quality for very good price. If we visit Skyros again, Almyra will be one of the places we will visit again.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer that Almyra is way over priced for what you get. We spent 3 weeks sailing in a private yacht, eating out often, and Almyra was the highest priced meal we had. We chose it based on a positive recommendation in our cruising guide, and its convenience to where we docked across the street.

The food had its high and low points....the pasta con pesto was probably one of the most memorable dishes of our trip. My husband is Italian, and nothing beats his mother's pesto. Almyra's is not basil based, but a very subtle blend of herbs that is light and aromatic, we all thought it was excellent. The pasta bolognese was also very good, as was the special appetizer of the evening, a blue cheese filled pastry. But, the grilled shrimps were dry and and tasteless. The Greek salad and deserts were average and nothing special.

The the owners were friendly and the service was excellent. Our server was a delightful young woman, but that didn't outweigh inconsistent food at an outrageous price.

A highlight of the evening came with the arrival of the ferry. All of a sudden spotlights flashed on across the harbor and the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey blasted from a loud speaker. People and cars started gathering streetside, right next to where we were dining. We were wondering what was going on when the larger than life ferry pulled into its slip a stone's thow from where we were sitting. You may want to go to Almyra and pay the price for the show, but there are other restaurants right there at the harbor front that might be worth trying first.

We came here to try some Traditional Cuisine. I read in the leaflet brought to us good comments made from one or two magazines. We expected the best.

We ordered among other dishes – tiropitari, (4.00 euros) -(fried pastry with cheese very popular on the island). We were brought 3 small pieces with a very bad smell and taste, almost bunt in very old oil, which must have been used again and again.
We were so disappointed!
We also ordered zucchini croquettes for 4.50 euros.
The rest of what we ordered was ok, but you don’t expect to get this especially if you see their catalogue and find printed comments below!

Some other prices are the following:
Mixed sea food dish (small for 2 persons) 19.50 euros
Mixed sea food (large dish for 4 persons) 34.50
Saganaki shrimps, cheese and tomato …10.90 euros
Yellow lentil puree at 4.50

If you don’t want to have bread just say it from the very beginning because you are brought bread that you might not even touch and they charge you for this.
The same happens with water. They charge you the water even if you don’t open the bottle. Ask them to take it back if you have not touched it. You will save at least 4 euros out of bread and water!

In all we found the restaurant expensive, and disappointing. I would not recommend it. There are many others to choose from in the round area.
