I don't normally bother to write about my holiday when I return home but this holiday was very special. I chose the Villa Apollon because of the outstanding reports of Dounia and the Captain, the way they looked after their guests, the fantastic views and also not forgetting the food! I have to say that what I have read on trip advisor is all true and even better than we expected. I wasn't bothered about some swanky 4*/5* hotel where people were too posh to talk to you. I wanted somewhere small and friendly where we could chat to everyone and feel welcome. The Captain and Dounia certainly did that. What a lovely couple, they worked so hard to make sure that everyone was happy. The rest of the staff are brill as well and the whole place is kept immaculately clean. We met so many friends on this holiday and I think this was thanks to the friendly environment that they provided. Coming down to breakfast was like gettting up in the morning to see old friends. The Sunday morning breakfast was the best with champagne, caviar and smoked salmon. WOW! The location is really good, right next to bus stop 9. For those of you that have not been to Skiathos before the bus service runs every 15mins up and down the island from the town to Koukanaries. If you want a more leisurely trip there is a water taxi to the town just down the hill, bus and boat only costing 2/2.50e. Back to Dounia and the Captain, They will cook almost anything you want as long as you give them notice. Captains spatchcock chicken is amazing, steaks are enormous and tender and as a special treat Dounia prepared for us a lobster, amazing. I could go on so much more but all I can say is.... Thanks for a great holiday. Thanks for the memories. We will be back.!

I have just returned from Villa Appollon with my partner and was amazed by the place and the service. The location of the apartments could not be better with every single room having a balcony overlooking the bay and the beach. Waking up to that view every day was incredible. The service provided by the owners Dounia and Captain puts all others to shame. There is nothing they could have done better. The pool area has been improved this year according to other reviews i read on trip advisor and it was a fantastic start to the day to sit by the pool overlooking the awesome views eating breakfast provided free by Dounia ( again another addition to the holiday from what i have read from others ) I was met by the captain who was a fantastic character who was also the most incredible cook. I had a steak twice the size of my hand ( at least ) which was cooked to perfection and just melted in the mouth. But the highlight of the menu had to be the spatchcock chicken for two, beautiful. I read many reviews from other people on tripadvisor and I noticed that many people have returned again and again. Its so easy to see why. Myself and my partner always try different hols every year and like to see new places but i will be returning back to Villa Appollon without a doubt. Dounia and the Captain are a credit to customer service and the hotel industry (although there are only 20 rooms, giving it a very friendly family atmosphere ) It was a shame that the Holiday Inn at Athens airport on the way back came nowhere near what was encountered and the Villa Appolon. Dounia and Captain we salute you and will see you again.

Room Tip: All 20 rooms have views of the bay and see. Cleverly built

Well I think our friends got tired of us bragging about our hotel during our week on Skiathos. They stayed in a fancy hotel downtown, a very fancy one by the popular beach, and a cheap one closer to the airport and all of them were envious of our cozy, inexpensive hotel with the great view and superb food.

I am not sure I would remain on the hotel property for the entire duration of my stay, like a lot of the repeat visiting Brits do, but with the pool, comfortable feel, great bar and again amazing view of the sea, I could almost consider it.

This was our fourth visit to Villa Apollon over the last six years. As always this really was a superb holiday. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and chilled out... even more so drinking our first beer at the bar, looking out over the bay!
Captain and Dounia simply cannot do enough for you... always happy to help and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food served here is always excellent, my favourite this year was the Spatchcock chicken. Absolutely lovely.
I'm always impressed by the way Captain/Dounia are constantly looking to improve and enhance the service & facilities they provide. This year was the first time we'd seen the new pool and patio, and it really is superb. The breakfast is new for this year, and was always really nice with a great selection, especially Dounia's homemade jams and marmalades.
Free WiFi/Internet access is now available too, which another great facility to have, especially if you have a smartphone.
The rooms and facilities are always maintained to a high standard, and all the rooms have a view of the bay which you could never tire of seeing.
We will definitely be going back, and I can see why so many other people return year after year.

We've just spent an idyllic 10 days at Apollo, and it just wasn't enough. Every year it gets harder and harder to leave - and this year we said to Dounia "we feel like not getting on the plane" and she said "so don't - stay with us !"......if only she knew how close we came to doing just that !
This year breakfast is included in the cost of the room, and it's a very good spread of all the favourites - hot "english", cereals, breads, pastries, cold cuts and dounia's home made jams (and a haslenut chocolate spread you could just eat by the spoonful!).
As ever the rooms are immaculate, both in cleanliness and facilities - aircon in every room and beds you struggle to get out of - the pool is always clean and the cover means it's like the temperature of a warm bath when you get in it (in fact - reminded me of the sea in Tobago) Clean towels on the sunbeds every morning, and morning, noon and night the view from the terrace over Achladies Bay is amazing. While we were at Apollo there was a total eclipse of the moon - to sit eating our monster chops, steaks and the new (and not to be missed) spatchcock chicken while watching the eclipse was fantastic - and then for the next few nights we got the phenomenon that is the "moon path" over Achladies bay - magical!
Every year we meet new people, but we also meet old friends - and our new acquaintances soon join the latter group. I have never in all my travels found such a place that just makes people automatically so sociable and relaxed in eachothers company - and all credit to Dounia and Captain for their work in making Apollo that very place. It really is such a family atmosphere - and in fact while we were there Dounia's daughter celebrated her birthday - Dounia was so excited showing everyone the cake she'd made, and her daughter arrived with small cakes and treats for everyone - you don't get more "family" than that.
I could go on and on and on about Apollo - for us it's the only place in Skiathos. It ticks all the boxes - clean, friendly, relaxed, well-appointed, comfortable - and then the things that really make the difference - friendly, welcoming, relaxed, comforting, recharging - it's these last things on top of everything else about Apollo that not only make it in our mind excellent value for money (and in the current climate that is always going to be a consideration for people) but that makes all the hard slog you put in throughout the year in order to have your holiday, worth the while.
We left realising 10 days just wasn't enough - so next year we're going for 21 to make up for the days we missed this year, and to celebrate a milestone birthday while we're there. We can't wait, and our calendar is already being ticked off. See you soon babies....xxxx

Just returned from another 2 week holiday at Villa Apollon.
WOW (said in Captains voice)
We have stayed here several times and each time we go back improvements have been made to what is already a lovely place to stay. As others have said this year we saw the improvements to the Pool area and the addition of breakfast each day. The difference in the pool area was excellent as were the breakfasts (especially Sunday’s special breakfast).
Skiathos is a beautiful place and it is very relaxing. Captain and Duonia are amazing hosts and cannot do enough for you. Nothing is too much trouble. You really do get the personal touch from them both and they treat you more as friends than guests.
The best thing about the holiday is getting off the plane and knowing that shortly you will be sitting around the pool/bar area with your first welcome beer from Captain and Duonia and your holiday begins from that moment.
This year a group of us went to the Villa Apollon to celebrate a friends’ birthday and the Captain cooked us his fabulous new dish of Spatchcock Chicken on the evening of our friends’ birthday. As per usual the portions are huge and the food was fabulous.
Duonia also made a fabulous birthday cake for our friends’ birthday.
They are both amazing cooks and take a lot of pride in what they make and present to you.
By the end of the holiday we came away with recipes of Duonia’s Walnut cake and Captains curry sauce.
Already looking forward to the next time we go.

I've just come back from 2 wonderful weeks at the Apollon with my wife and freinds. The tan's fading fast but the happy memories won't !

Like many others, I've stayed at the Apollon before, so was really looking forward to my holiday & catching up with the Captain & Dounia - the hosts with the most. They really do make a great holiday even better. The Captain's cooking is legendary - I can recommend the huge & tasty steaks, pork chops, Stifado, Spatchcook chicken, home-made pizza, snapper & awesome Greek salads (too big for one, so share it !) . It's all great, but I won't bore you with the entire menu ! Did I mention that a wonderful buffet breakfast are now included in the price ? It includes English brekkie fare, Cheese, ham, tomates, Cucumber, yoghurt, honey, cereals etc etc..... and on Sunday mornings the Captain & Dounia add caviar, smoked Salmon and Champagne cocktails ! (Most handy for topping up your levels from the previous Saturday night ! ).

Dounia and the captain are great fun and nothing is too much trouble for them. They're up and attending to the guests all day & night. Such staying power ! Dounia can arrange this like car & boat hire for you, and both of them are happy to help the guests with any queries they may have. On a previous trip Dounia even made us a lovely packed lunch for our boat hire adventure, which was great fun. Driving around the tracks in a jeep was also a great thing to do. There are lots of nearly empty beaches on the North side of the island which you'd miss if you didn't hire a vehicle. A jeep is probably best to hire as some of the tracks are a bit challenging, which adds to the adventure !

The apartments are absolutely fine, with a big fridge for stocking up on booze & snacks. The air-conditioning works well & the beds are comfortable. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day and the cleaning staff are also very friendly.

Achilades Beach is just a 5 minute walk away. It's a great beach with sunbeds & umbrellas for hire (4 Euros per person) and watersports available, which include doughnuts, parasailing, waterskiing & other inflatable things towed behind a speedboat. The beachside restaurants include the Paradise and the Maniatis garden. Both of which are good. I'll miss the sardines for lunch ! From the beach you can get the water taxi (2.50 Euro) into Skiathos town. Such a lovely way to start your evening out, but on many nights we had a great time staying in the Apollon enjoying the company of our friends, other guests and of course the Captain with his generous drink measures !

I hope to back again soon.

Yamas !

Ian.
