I usually look on here for reviews as the general public are brilliant at ripping hotels and places to bits for the slightest fault but you would be hard pushed to find anything wrong with this hotel . I usually put my comments into + and - sections but this time the only bad thing was the air conditioning . As I had read before on Trip Advisor , you have to ask for the air con to be put on - bit of a pain in the neck as you are stopping at a four star place and have to ring up - please can we have the air conditioning on ( remember " Oliver " ?) Especially when you have been out for a few and are being roasted alive on the walk back and are looking forward to getting into a cool room . I honestly can't find anything else to moan about - the staff were great , half board was brilliant . You can ask for anything off the menu as a starter and then the main course then sweet then a shot of whatever you fancy . You will probably put another stone on but the meals are fantastic ! People who went out for meals came back with stories of - paid 90 - 100 euros and it was rubbish . Well worth getting out the calculator and you will win on the deal staying half board . All we did was have a buffet breakfast - everything you could want - and an evening meal and in the heat of July that was enough for us . Occasionally you might hear people laughing down at the bar when you were in bed - I just thought it was one of the waiters opening his wage slip ! Some people might moan at this as the hotel is in a quiet area and sound travels at night .
Overall by Greek standards this is the best hotel I have ever stopped in .
Info concerning the hotel/ island -
1) got a safe in the wardrobe ( free ) ,
2( towels changed every day , they supply shower gel , shampoo , cream as you use it ,
3) Decent sized fridge in the room , will hold a few cans , owners don't like it , but it's nice to have a few beers while the wife gets ready for battle .
4) Don't hire a scooter / motorbike - no end of kids in bandages and slings , one of the guests broke his leg while we were there and was flown home on the second day of his holiday ! Stick to a jeep - a lot of the roads are tracks .
5) A few of the bars are pricey e.g. 22 euros for a cocktail ( rock'n roll bar ) - I think the Greeks are trying to dig themselves out of a hole - won't work as you don't go back . A few english bars there - Old Port House was the best .
6) Island trips are worth going on - Skopelos ( Mamma Mia ) and Allonnisos are worth a
visit .
7) This island is full of beaches - one round every corner - 64 in all - if you like beaches then this is the island for you - nothing much in the way of ruins/history to visit .
8) The beaches are good for the 20 - 30 year olds as they have discos at Banana beach and also the new port had disco bars - need a few quid there !

Finally if you want a relaxing holiday at a quality hotel with great food and service - then book this one - if you don't then I'm sure that you will find a 1 * hotel in Turkey at a quarter of the price with all the salmonella you can eat !

Room Tip: Some of guests commented that their room didn't have a net curtain - sort it out when you arrive

Prospective guests wishing to book a superior twin room should be aware that there are only two in the hotel (rooms 305 and 205). Both of these rooms are grossly overlooked as they face a corridor which is a direct route to the stairs and lift, they also have a very small balcony and no sun at any time. Unfortunately we were allocated room 305 and immediately asked to be moved. Two days later we were offered a room with a double bed at the front of the hotel overlooking the car park although we had booked and paid an upgrade for a superior twin room with pool view. Later in the week we discovered that fellow guests were put in 305 the day prior to our arrival and, like us, requested a move straight away, and were prepared to accept a double. It is most unfortunate that the hotel has only two badly positioned twin superior rooms as most other areas of the hotel are okay. There are some excellent staff members, the twins Michael and Thomas, Eva and Maria.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time and posting your review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate and value all feedback which helps us to improve our services.

Please accept our apology for not being able to fulfil your request and allocate you a twin room with a pool view and afternoon sun. Unfortunately we learned about this request only upon your arrival and had only two rooms available (both with double bed). One of those rooms was our Junior Suite which has 2 balconies, overlooks the front of the hotel (gets sun in the afternoon), and can accommodate up to 4 people (2 extra sofa beds). Sadly to us you didn’t accept this free upgrade to one of our best Suites and decided to stay in the room which you were allocated on your arrival.

Thank you for mentioning excellent customer service provided by our staff members. We do hope to see you at La Piscine again so that we have an opportunity to make your stay with us enjoyable.

With warm regards,

Olga Fateeva

We stayed in La piscine art hotel for our honeymoon. The welcome we had was superb. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We must particularly mention Olga on reception and Michael and Thomas the identical twin waiters who couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is spotlessly clean and luxurious and we'd rate it 5 stars rather than 4. We were told our room had been upgraded free of charge as we were a honeymoon couple which only made us feel more special. There was also wine and fresh fruit waiting in our room for us on arrival. just a short walk to the main street and the old and new port where there was plenty to do. We went on 2 cruises, booked at the port rather than through the tour rep which was a 3rd of the price, and well worth every penny. the hotel resturant was a bit more expensive than other resturants out and about but again the food was grogeous. We never go anywhere twice but this could well be the exception.! Top marks!

Room Tip: we were in room 110 which overlooked the pool. lovely spot.
