Having visited Skiathos 29 times we only found this family run restaurant a few years back after a local taxi driver by the name of Kostas said we should visit and took us there! It is now at the top of our favourite places to eat list.

Dafni the daughter who waits at table is a lovely girl and her english is very good. She is always there to suggest delicious dishes to be cooked fresh by Mama. The menu is large and everything is cooked to order from the freshest of ingredients. Pure bliss!!

We can thoroughly recommend the prawns and pasta which we were lucky enough to try on our recent visit. .

We have spent many happy evenings at this restaurant as it has fabulous views of the surrounding area including Skopolos.

Please make the effort to find this little gem as it is well worth the cost of a taxi.

So thank you Dafni, Mama, Papa and brother for yet more good memories and we hope to return next year for our 30th visit to Skiathos!!

Graham & Miriam .

I am in two minds about writing this review. How many times have reviews said that a place is so good that the reviewer wants to keep it to themself?

Believe me- if you want GENUINE HOME COOKED FOOD made with natural ingredients and thoroughly steeped in Greek tradition - this is the place for you. The taverna is family run by Eleni, Daphni (mother and daughter) and occasionally helped by Apostolis and Andonis (father and son). They are, without doubt, one of the most generous and kind families that I have met in over 30 years of visiting Greece. I have eaten in two star Michelin restaurants in Athens and hundreds of traditional Greek tavernas. This taverna is the best of all for the Greek traditional fare.

Daphni is a wonderful host and patiently explains all the dishes in terrific English. Her smile is warm and genuine and she never gets flustered. She has the calm, unflappable air of an ancient Greek muse. Eleni has the helm in the kitchen and takes pride in everything she does. The ingredients are all freshly sourced and seasonal and the portions are generous to say the least.

There is a stunning array of starters including salads, local cheeses, village sausages and vegetable- based dishes such as aubergine, courgette and fish roe in abundance. All the meats are first rate whether they are cooked on the grill or steeped in wine or other sauces with meat falling away off the bone. There are many traditional Greek dishes served in pots that are succulent and fresh - not some of the dried out burnt offerings that can blight other tavernas! If you book ahead - ask for the patates Riganates- you will never ever want any other kind of potatoes ever again.

Often, the evening is rounded off with mouth watering fresh fruits or delicious home-made walnut cakes. You will never go away from this taverna other than happy, well-fed and longing for the next visit.

There are many tables set outside but under cover with views out to sea. The taverna and kitchen are spotless...as are the lavatories.

The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food and compare very favourably with other tavernas in the town. It is more than worth finding - you will ask yourself why it has taken you so long to find it. Please, once you do ......only tell lovely, discerning people who will only tell other lovely people and we can all keep it like this for ever. Now there's a genuine and heartfelt recommendation !

I am not in any way connected with this taverna by family or business. I just love it, the amazing food and the wonderful family who own it. I have spent countless happyafternoon lunches and evening dinners here and hope to do so for years and years to come.........

This family run restaurant is outside Skiathos town. From the ring road follow the road up to Evangelistria Monastery, turn right at the T-intersection at the top of the hill and travel towards Kalivia. It is well worth the journey!

The restaurant is located with spectacular panoramic views towards the north, the neighbouring island of Skopelos and to the south. It sits amid a green lawn with a pretty hand-painted old donkey cart as a feature. The large tables are well-spaced on the wide, covered veranda that catches the cooling breezes on a hot afternoon or evening. For cooler times of the year there are tables inside, with an open fire and a gleaming tile floor.

But the reason to visit this restaurant is the food. Mama Eleni is a wonderful cook, producing a wide range of traditional dishes using family recipes. We have loved starters such as deep-fried courgette balls, mini spinach and cheese pies, rocket salad, fried cheese (sometimes Grandma's home-made cheese), traditional Greek salad, fried aubergines with cheese dip or courgettes with tzatziki. For mains, the bifteki (like hamburgers) with a blue cheese sauce, sousoukakia (sausage-shaped meat balls in a rich tomato sauce), meltingly tender beef in red sauce, and soft slow-cooked lamb, chicken or rabbit have all been delicious. Eleni's moussaka is heavenly.

But then, having found this restaurant and returned many times we have always enjoyed the food immensely and it is impossible to describe the entire, varied menu in a review such as this.

Eleni's daughter Daphne waits at tables and is delightful. In her excellent English , she will happily explain the dishes on the menu and any specials using seasonally available and home-grown ingredients. At the end of your meal Daphne may also present you with some fresh fruit or a slice of cake that she has made.

For really great traditional Greek food in Skiathos, this is the place for me!
