loved skiathos, but didnt want to stop in the town, this hotel is just outside, easy to get to the town by water bus, used it every day.
Hotel basic but comfortable, B&B again basic but ok, lovely swimming pool and hotel just by the beach. Only a short distance from the airport but didnt hear any noise, so another plus!
Lots of places to eat and dont need to break the bank doing so!
Would love to go back again but may try another hotel, but this hotel suited us down to the ground.

My Husband and i have just returned home from a 2 week stay at the Plaza. On arrival we were disappointed to find we had been allocated a room in the secondary building of the hotel, our room was on the 2nd floor and our view was a mass of bushes from our balcony, having booked our vacation many months before and requestd a sea view room in the main building you can imagine we were not happy! We spoke to Angelo the manager who was very helpful and were told we could move rooms 4 days later, not ideal but it was a solution, we were not the only ones to move either 4 other couples moved too! Our 2nd room was lovely, it had a fantastic seaview, rooms were very clean and the bathroom very adequate altho the shower attachement did not stay on the wall bracket. The hotel itself overall was very nice and all staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, enough to choose from altho I personally felt fresh fruit could have been used instead of tinned. The location of the Plaza was good, the beach was 100m away which was home to a very nice Taverna, which was infact that good that four friends we had met at the Plaza namely, Dick & Mags, Ken & Lynn known affectionately by us as "The Crazy Gang" visited it nearly every night and day!!! (It was only 100m stagger home after the Brandys). In front of the Plaza is 2 small ploughed fields so your views are not interuppted all they lacked was a Scarecrow! Only draw back was sometimes the walk to the bus stop about 600m but a couple of steep heels to navigate first. Bus into town was good always on time 1.60 euro into town, altho we tended to go over to town via the water taxi 3 euro each per way nice way to travel tho takes about 15 mins. We really enjoyed our stay and met some great people i.e The Crazy Gang who gave us a great laugh ( will stop by the taverna next year to see if they got any Brandy left!) We will almost definately return to the Plaza it made our first holiday to greece one to remember, Skiathos is a fabulous place and cant wait to return!

Room Tip: e-mail Angelo (Manager) at the Plaza

This hotel is situated off the main road that runs along the island of Skiathos on a peninsula. The view is spectacular as the hotel is close to the beach in the daytime and the evening. The down side is there is no transport from the main road to the hotel and we found it quite daunting at times as it is not a straight road and is quite steep in parts. You can always call a taxi but at 14 euro each way a little expensive. The hotel itself is beautifully clean, plenty of hot water at all times, complimentary soaps, fresh towels every day and a buffet breakfast that will keep you full all day. There is also a nice walk which hugs the coastline on your doorstep which takes you to the next beach at Vromlinimos. It took us about an hour and a half.

My wife and I recently returned to Skiathos after a 2 year break .
We previously stayed close to the Plaza and decided to try it out ourselves after reading good reviews.
It lived up to expectations on most counts especially the friendliness of staff and the excellent beach front position.
As stated by many guests the only down side were the breakfast limited choice and the total lack of any evening entertainment throughout the 2 weeks. We were lucky to be allocated a first floor sea view room and were grateful for this as guests who were allocated the rear were not happy.
The age group during our stay suited us with few children around the pool.
Local reataurant Johnies was as usual excellent as is the bar at Kanapitsa Suites.

Just returned from a fantastic holiday to Skiathos staying at the Plaza Hotel in Kanapitsa. Skiathos - what a lovely island, very picturesque, very friendly. The Plaza hotel although a bit dated in places, was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel was in a lovely location, the only downside to which was the steep hill to climb to get to the supermarket and bus stop about 15 minutes walk away. Although all Thomson rooms are at the back of the hotel with no sea views the rooms were very quiet and comfortable. Yes the beds are a bit hard and the shower does not fit to the wall properly but hey this is Greece! The rooms and in fact the whole hotel, were spotlessly clean. The self serve breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The food in the hotel restaurant was also delicious. However, we tended to eat at the Kanapita Taverna on the beach where again the food, service etc was exemplary. The beach approx 100 yards from the hotel, is very narrow but there are plenty of sun loungers (8 euros for 2 + a parasol). The views from the beach were something to behold and the gentle sea was so warm! For anyone wanting to stay by the hotel pool there weren't many sun loungers but it was always possibly to get one at any time of day. All in all a lovely holiday and we'll definitely be back. The only negative was the amount of wasps which always appeared at the same time as the food!

We stayed for one week at The Plaza in Kanapitsa, I have to say I found the hotel accommodation excellent, the staff very friendly and location ideal.

I have read previous reviews regarding the standard of the breakfast and what was available. We found it it be ample, yes, I would agree there is no finesse with the breakfasts, it may lack presentation but we paid 3 star prices not 5 star. I would have thought there was enough choice to find something to eat. Cereals, greek yogurt, fruit, eggs boiled, poached or omlettes, yes...chippolata sausages, mushrooms and beans, toast, french breads and continental cheese, ham with jams.

The hotel was clean, the rooms clean with air con and the pool area excellent. I stayed in The Lalaria last year and that was not a patch on this hotel.

The beach is a stones throw away and the taxi boat ideal to go into town during the day and in the evening 3 euros p/p each way, children go free. Taxi by road 10 euros.

Angelo, the manager was helpful and often gave me lift when passing me on the way to the supermarket which is up hill and down dale approx 15mins walk and i'm not a fast walker.

We ate in the Kanipitsa restaurant on the beach this again was excellent and also at Jonny's again excellent and within walking distance of hotel.

I was not suprised to hear from other holiday seekers, they have been back time and time again to this hotel.

Overall, for value for money I would recommend this hotel for families and couples and will book again for next year.

this hotel was great, not too big, very quiet and friendly staff.

we stayed here about two weeks before the holiday season started, very quiet but still very hot, the pool was a good size for the hotel and also empty, sunloungers always available.

negatives are, its a bit of a treck to get to the nearest bus stop and the buses are very irregular, you could be waiting an hour or 5mins, taxis pass regularly, just hop in one of them, very cheap to get to the town centre. the rooms also seemed a bit noisey alot of scraping chairs.

food was ok, they have a snack bar by the pool, but they dont do snacks just meals, found it hard to get a sandwich and a bowl of fries. I found breakfast a bit repetative, but foods food.
